When doing consulting for a company which had chipcard authentication in place, I noticed that they had failure rates even with the high-end readers, with lift contacts instead of sliders. But there they had hundreds of people going through the gates every day, so in your case this might not be a big issue. In any case have them keep the cards in some sort of case, so you get less dirt into the reader. Bye, Siggi.
