To get colours, try these changes, works for me:

$ cat /etc/profile
[ -o interactive -a $TERM = 'xterm' ]  export TERM=nxterm
[ -o interactive -a $SHELL = '/bin/ksh' ]  . /etc/ksh.kshrc
[ -o interactive -a $SHELL = '/bin/rksh' ]  . /etc/ksh.kshrc 2/dev/null

$ fgrep -B 7 -A 2 -n \*xterm /etc/ksh.kshrc
72- if [ $tty != $console ]; then
73- # ilabel
74- ILS='\033]L'; ILE='\033\\'
75- # window title bar
76- WLS='\033]l'; WLE='\033\\'
77- fi
78- ;;
79: *xterm*)
80- ILS='\033]1;'; ILE='\007'
81- WLS='\033]2;'; WLE='\007'
