yeah, using smart host would work around the issue. actually I use smart host
for one of my domains.
I just want to see if there is any configurations that can acheive this
without a smart host.

If you are using say a remote smart host, mandrill, gmail etc, youmight want to
look at relay via (in smtpd.conf(5)). This will giveyou different port options
to bypass your ISPs 'block out to any portsmtp'.
