Yes, I have a custom style file and I want to see the platform as a footway
(routing enabled):
railway=platform {set ...} [0x0d road_class=0 road_speed=0 level 0]

Something that's bugging me about this example is that it's a railway
platform and shouldn't be routable anyway. Have you styled it into a
highway of some kind? If so, that could be the root of the problem.

Anyway, I can't think any more tonight, I'll look again in the morning.

[mkgmap-dev] Error - zero length arc

2009-07-26 Thread Rudi
I have a problem with a zero length arc (mkgmap 1107):

SCHWERWIEGEND (RoadNetwork): Road null (OSM id 34881225) contains zero
length arc
SCHWERWIEGEND (RoadNetwork):
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=47.83413&lon=11.70958&zoom=17

This is a strange railway=platform. It is mapped like a very narrow 'area'.
I have set the flag --remove-short-arcs and this road is also not on a tile
border. (I tried the same area with mkgmap 1092 and the map was created
without an error message.)

Is there a problem with the remove-short-arcs algorithm?
(I can change the OSM data but I'd prefer to have an mkgmap version without
error message for this kind of way).

Rudi

Re: [mkgmap-dev] Problem with styles

2009-07-26 Thread Mark Burton

This works for me:

I have a directory called mkgmap-burto-style. In it are:

info lines options points polygons relations version

I use the following option:

--style-file=mkgmap-burto-style

That assumes that mkgmap-burto-style is in the current directory.
Obviously, you need to put in a pathname (absolute or relative) if it's
elsewhere.

I now have put the style folder in the mkgmap base map, and --style=fiets
doesn't seem to work. Do I have to put the style in a zip-file?

I think, the path of the style must be relative to your working
directory. So when you are running in the mkgmap directory, the
parameter --style-file=resources\styles\fiets should work.

Or you can put the fiets folder as a subfolder under your working
directory, then the parameter would be --style=fiets.

[mkgmap-dev] Problem with styles

2009-07-26 Thread sonke016
Dear mkgmap users,

I have a problem when I'm trying to use a style. If I create a style, for
example "fiets", put it in the folder "mkgmap\resources\styles\fiets", and I
use the command
java -jar mkgmap.jar map.osm --tdbfile --style-file=styles\fiets
then mkgmap just uses the default style. I tried almost everything: using
--style, using quotation marks, using --style-file=resources\styles\fiets etc.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Could someone please help me, for example
by giving a working example command?

[mkgmap-dev] playing with custom styles

2009-07-26 Thread maning sambale
Hi,

I've been playing around with custom styling via typ file. Here's my
progress so far:
http://epsg4253.wordpress.com/2009/07/26/tinkering-with-custom-garmin-styles/

Most icons were from osm. So far I need more icons so if anyone wants
to add them just drop me a message. Of course the generated typ file
is for anyone who wants to use them.

[mkgmap-dev] Commit: r1106: Added --make-cycleways and --make-all-cycleways options.

2009-07-26 Thread svn commit

Version 1106 was commited by markb on 2009-07-26 14:30:09 +0100 (Sun, 26 Jul
2009)

Added --make-cycleways and --make-all-cycleways options.

--make-cycleways synthesises a cycleway when a road has a
cycleway=[lane|track|both|left|right] tag. All tag values
have the same effect (the cycleway shares the road's
points). Also, bicycles are barred from the road unless it
already has a bicycle=* tag.

--make-all-cycleways enables all cycleway synthesising options.

Perhaps, but my goal is to be able to cope with all data no matter how
crap it is. That may require a certain amount of pruning and trashing
of the really bad stuff. The old saying of Garbage In Garbage Out is
very applicable here.

The latest rev now reports a download URL.
