[mlpack] GSoC Proposal Idea

2023-03-21 Thread Suvarsha Chennareddy
Hello everyone,

My name is Suvarsha Chennareddy and I’ve been contributing to mlpack for a
while now. I would love to take part in GSoC 2023 and learn a great deal
more from the mentors.

I have looked at the project ideas list and am interested in taking up Enhance
CMA-ES
<https://github.com/mlpack/mlpack/wiki/SummerOfCodeIdeas#enhance-cma-es>. I
have a related PR (An attempt to fix the current CMAES inconsistencies
<https://github.com/mlpack/ensmallen/pull/351>) open which is currently
under review. My plan is to get this current PR merged and then start
working on the main elements of the project like implementing SaACM-ES,
IPOP-CMA-ES, and Active-CMA-ES. I could incorporate negative weights into
the current CMA-ES implementation as well. I will definitely add to the
list if I find anything else fitting. Of course, I will be including
everything in my proposal.

If there aren’t any objections to my choice, I’ll start working on a
proposal right away.

Thank you,
Suvarsha Chennareddy

Hello everyone,

I’ve also decided to implement KDA (along with LDA and QDA). The following
link will direct you to my proposal:

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

[mlpack] GSoC Idea - New method (LDA and QDA)

2022-04-06 Thread Suvarsha Chennareddy
Hello everyone,
My name is Suvarsha Chennareddy and I’m a fresher (first year) at my
university, VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology). I’ve contributed to
mlpack a few times over the past few months, and I would like to
participate in GSoC. I have an idea, but want approval to begin working on
the proposal.

I’ve been thinking about adding a new method (or methods) to mlpack as a
medium sized project. More specifically, I was wondering if I could work on
the implementation for ‘LDA’ (Linear Discriminant Analysis) and maybe even
‘QDA’ (Quadratic Discriminant Analysis) for my summer project.

Please let me know if this isn’t going to work out. If it is indeed ok,
should I add both or just ‘LDA’? Once I’m sure that this proposed idea is
alright, I’ll start working on a proposal. Thank you for taking the time to
read this.

Thanks,
Suvarsha Chennareddy
