[Mobile.AI] Query about Silent mode in Android

2014-08-24 Thread Shyam M. Sayanekar
Dear members, I have a query, please solve. If the Android phone happens to be
on silent mode, your swiping or tapping would not give you any audible results.
In such a situation, how do you go back to the normal mode? Thanking you,
Yours,

Re: [Mobile.AI] Query about Silent mode in Android

2014-08-24 Thread Aaruni Sharma
Hi, Normally if you keep pressing volume up, it should switch to ringer
mode. There are other ways too which differ from handset to handset. In
Moto E long pressing the lock key gives you many options including silent,
ringer and vibrate mode.

Even in Moto G long pressing the lock key gives options for power off,
aireplane mode and ringer off.
But the question is when phone is already in silent mode, pressing
power key long will enable talkback and other sounds?

Re: [Mobile.AI] Query about Silent mode in Android

2014-08-24 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
There are different ways to switch between silent and normal modes. On
many Android devices, you can adjust 2 sets of volumes, music volume
and ringer volume. Just unlock the phone, press volume down till
TalkBack goes silent, the music volume will be set to 0 %. Unlock the
phone, wait for 5 seconds, press volume down till the phone vibrates
ones, TalkBack will announce Ringer volume is set to 0 %. When on
silent, just press volume up the same way, you can increase both sets
of volumes.
Another way is to use an app like Myprofiles. This is a largely
accessible app that lets you create different profiles and activate
them at will. One combination that could be tried in say an office
environment, is to set ringr volume on 0 %, and may be keep music
volume on 20 or 30 % and activate the profile when needed, and then
switch back to normal when needed.
Best,

I have a doubt on your querry. Does talk back goes to silent when the

not an expert in Anthroid. just started exploring two days ago with
Sony Xperia Z on 4.4 Kitkat.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Query about Silent mode in Android

2014-08-24 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
To silence TalkBack, put media/music volume to 0 %, that's the best
way unless you are using a specialized profile app like myprofiles. In
many phones, the notification panel is not completely accessible, so
doing the shift from normal to silent may not be easy. So best one
work with the volume buttons, or use an app to switch between
profiles.
