Dear List members,
This has reference to an earlier email from undersign and subsequent 
suggestions from our learned friends.
I am happy to inform that the issue has been resolved. I had kept the phone in 
switched off condition for entire night and then today morning switched on. 
Immediately after the phone had booted, I had reset the phone. Although the 
explanation seems highly unscientific, but the phone has started to work now :)

[Mobile.AI] IOS9 Update: Phone App freezing

Dear List members,
I have an Apple 5S (16 GB). Recently I had upgraded to IOS9.01 from IOS8.4. 
Subsequent to upgrading, its phone app seems to be freezing  (Phone Hang). All 
the tabs associated with Phone App are blank i.e. Favourites, Recent Call Log, 
Contacts, Keypad. I tried to reset the phone twice but the problem persist. 
Similarly the phone  setting in Settings is also not responding. Other apps 
seems to be working fine. I am able to call my contacts thru another folder 
(not using phone app).
I have also observed that the people list that used to appear in task manager 
(term borrowed  from windows as I do not know the Apple term for the same) 
after clicking home button twice is also blank. Voiceover states active against 
other apps like message etc but nothing that sort when selecting phone in task 
manager.
Any solution to resolve the issue shall be appreciated.

4. Since you have purchased a new phone so you will like to import the
contacts from your old Nokia phone as well. Given below are the steps which
have been beautifully explained on a website:

Apple’s iPhone and Nokia mobile devices are undoubtedly one of the most popular
smartphones/ cellphones in the world; and transferring its contacts, phonebook
and other data shouldn’t be the problem. Apparently, if you don’t have enough
tools or what they call it ‘common software’, there’s no straight and easy way
out. At least that’s what I thought initially, this question bugged me for
almost a week until I found the solution. I think it’s worth sharing with
internet via screencast writing a how-to article for it.

Things you need:

•Nokia mobile phone with memory card
•Computer with iTunes.
•iPhone
First On Nokia phone

1.Nokia: Go to contacts/ phonebook
2.Nokia: Select all contacts
3.Nokia: Option save contacts
4.Nokia: Select destination as memory card
5.Plug in your nokia phone to computer in data transfer mode.
6.Browse through your Nokia memory card and open /Others/ folder
7.Open ‘contacts’ folder placed in memory card/Others/contact
8.Select All contacts and copy-paste them in ‘windows contact’.
9.Windows contacts, (known as windows Address Book in Windows XP) can be found
in C:\Users\Logged-in-user\Contacts\ or you can click win logo or press win key
and type ‘contacts’ in search slot windows start.
10.Plug in iPhone to the computer.
11.Open iTunes, if it doesn’t pop up automatically.
12.Select iPhone in iTunes and open ‘info’ tab
13.check/ mark/tick ‘sync contacts with ‘windows contacts’ (choose from
dropdown menu)
14.press ‘sync’ button.
15.Done.
[iCloud Update] Apple introduced the iCloud feature to automatically sync your
iPhone contacts after this tutorial is written. To copy/sync contacts (from
step#11) you should disable iCloud sync for the first time you migrate your
addressbook. Once the manual transfer is done using above steps, you may
continue using iCloud sync afterwards)

PS: In case of newer Nokia phones such as Nokia E5-00, X2-01 menu of contact is
bit different. In Contact Menu Mark All Create backup Phone to memory
card. I tested this on iPhone 3GS, however it works on any old or new iPad,
iPhone 4, iPhone 4S as well as new iPhone 5.

After going thru the above sites, you will become an expert in IPhone.

Dear friends,
I had recently upgraded my Iphone 5s to IOS 8.1.Now after the upgradation, I am
finding that:

1. it has stopped announcing the name of caller during an incoming call.
I can touch the screen to check the name of the caller, but earlier it was done
in an automatic manner. Any solutions.?

2. Prior to upgradation, When we make a phone call and bring the phone
close to our ear, then it switches to internal speaker and when the phone is
taken away from our ear, its loud speaker gets activated. However after
upgradation, many a times when the phone is close to our ear and we expect that
its internal speaker should be activated I find that suddenly its loud speaker
gets activated. This is happening randomly. Sometimes it happens during making
a phone call and sometimes it happens in the middle of a conversation. Any
solutions?

Good Morning. I have recently purchased Iphone 5S and have yet to start working
on it. Current engaged in arranging micro SIM for the phone. I hope I would
receive your guidance in understanding it and using it proficiently. To start
with:
1. Kindly indicate helpful resources from where I can start to read and learn
to operate the phone.
2. I have heard that book entitled Getting Started with the iPhone and iOS 5
for Blind Users - by Anna Dresner and Dean Martineau is a good book to start.
Please suggest if anybody have read the said book.
3. Please indicate the important apps that may be installed on the phone so as
to make it useful from VI point of view.
4. How to transfer contacts (phone book) from my existing Symbian based Nokia
N79 phone to new Iphone.

I shall be greatful to list for providing information regarding above.
