espeak or any similar app for IPhone which supports Indian languages

Dear Sunil Sir, I am successfully changing granularity options using

Most of us do struggle to invoke reading granularity if we are to read by

It is in local context menu in kit kat but invoking it has been a tough
task as more often than not, talk back interprets up then right gesture
 as swiping.

However, I have found a way out
Which I think can benefit some of us.
I have assigned the local context menu to the experimental talk back
 gesture of double side tapping.
Now, I can invoke local context menu by double tapping on the side of the
device instead of performing difficult up right gesture.
It can be done by going to:
 apps\settings\accessibility\talk back\settings\manage gestures
I have kept the sensitivity to touch at the lightest level so that it
does not interfere in normal handling of the phone.
Please give it a try and discuss.

2014-11-07 Thread Dr. G. Janardhana Naidu
Hello Mr. mujeebji,
yes, I am facing navigation problem. I have practiced several times
without any result. I also tried to navigate not only in messages, but
also in txt files. I am perfectly selecting word granularity option
using both local context menue and up and then down gesture methods.
But I am not able to navigate successfully to read word by word in
messages, edit boxes and test files also. Therefore, i request you to
share with me the available tips and required settings if any. Please
share with me english tutorial on exclusively granularity if
available.
Thanks and regards,

Granuality is a temporary change. I.e. when you close that window, maybe

That is you will have to do it again while reading the next mail. Is it
happening like that or it is not doing so in the very first instance.

 Dear Rajesh Sir,
I am successfully accessing local context menu with the help of
assigned gesture. But I am not able to access the granularity
options. After opening the message I perform up and right gesture and
 open
 the local context menue.
Page, paragraph, line, word and character options appear on the screen. I
select desired option like character or word options and lift my finger.
After lifting the finger while swipping from left to right to access
character by character or word by word, Instead of reading character by
character or word by word Talkback reads the message as usual.

Dear Sunil Sir, I am successfully changing granularity options using up
 and
down gesture to page, paragraph, line, word and character.
While swipping from left to right to access the content character by
character or word by word, the talk back reads entire the content as
 usual.
In this context, I request your kind suggestions how to access the
 content
character by character and word by word. kindly suggest me step by step
instructions to access granularity. In other words, I am successfully
performing granularity gestures and not able to operate granularity
 options.
Kindly guide me how to proceed further. Your help in this matter is
 highly
 solicited.

However, I have found a way out

I have assigned the local context menu to the experimental talk back

Now, I can invoke local context menu by double tapping on the side

It can be done by going to:

have kept the sensitivity to touch at the lightest level so that it

Please give it a try and discuss.

First of all, granularity has to be selected and goes backto default every
time you touch a new area on the screen. in order to select different
levels of granularity, swipe up then right and explore the screen.
Sometimes you will directly find line/paragraph etc and at others you may
have to touch change granularity and then select the desired options.
As far as music player is concerned, you can go for music folder player.

hello learned friends,
I am changing from page, paragraph, line, word and character
granularities in messages and edit boxes while swiping the finger up

word or character by character in a message or edit box while swiping

the talk back reads as usual while swiping from left to right. Is
there any technique to access character by character or word by word
while swiping from left to right after changing the required
granularity?
Are there any spesific settings in accessibility or talk back to that effect?
Does any of you able to use granulairy in moto E?
I request you to share your experiences to resolve the issue.

Hello Friends,
After reading some of the mails in this thread, I wish to suggest an
alternative way to handle the touch phone in crowd places. Bluetooth
may be one among the options before us to consider. We can access
basic features using blue tooth in android mobiles. Moreover, we can
create some short cuts for important numbers in the home page.

recently updated DW dialer to get the latest feature i.e, dialing when

numbers more efficiently with one hand. But when swiping through the keypad,

unwanted numbers also get typed which is irritating. Most of us using

default dialer. But I am having 4.1 version.

Subject: Re: [Mobile.AI] can one use touchscreen phone effectively
 atcrowdedplaces?

 Hi all,

After reading so many mails on the subject, I firstly fail to understand
that why some of the so-called champians who have mastered over touch
 screen
feel that everybody is going to learn this in similar manner? this thread
nowhere had any intention to criticize or praze any of the platform but its
intent was to find solution for a very genuin issue with touch phones. Some
said this might discourage new buyers to move on to touch screens but I
 feel
the other way. If we are able to find solution for this, this would indeed
add value for those who are considering to move on to the touch. Now coming
to the issue, Mohib: I can use my iPhone effectively for calling
 and/dialing
in any sort of environment with one hand but some times find problems in
crowded places while typing long messages/emails but can manage for short
messages. Depending on the environment, I use different solutions like
 using
voice input or earphones. However, given the fact that we also need to
depend on the sound clues while walking, using an earphone may some time
lead to some undesirable consequence so would not suggest to use it while
walking and that too, when walking with a cane. So, I generally prefer to
avoid typing long messages/emails while on the move and preffer to do this
once settled down unless it is very urgent. For calling, one can use
Favorites in iPhone to add some frequently called contacts for easy
 access
 while on the go.

Hi Satguru, I have changed the subject and we can discuss the matter
 here in this thread.
I am using android moto g for quite some time now. The most difficulty
I have faced with the device is that I am totally handicapped using my
touchscreen phone at crowded places, such as at railway station,
market, or if I am walking on the road.
Suppose, if I am waiting for someone at railway station or at some
busy streat, first of all I have to hold the phone with both hands,
then have to swipe number of times to get the contact of person to
 whom I want to call.
It seems very difficult specially when I am holding some luggage etc
in my hand. Even to dial the number you have to find out the digit at
the screen, than lift your finger, if some digit is entered wrongly,
find the button to delete. More over sending text messages under these
 circumstances is very very difficult.
Similar is the story when I am walking on the road and I just want to
talk to somebody or to text anyperson, I will have to stand somewhere,
find the number and then call or sms.
Over all it is very cumbersome to use touchscreen device during such

swipe right, to disconnect tap around the same place.
 2. after reaching the accessibility option in settings, double tap it
and then explore the relevant option to disconnect call using power

Just to respond to some of the questions. To deal with the first 2
issues, go to settings/accessibility. Both the option to make
 power
button to end call, and enable accessibility shortcut are there.
Doubletap to enable the same, you should be good to go. Ones
accessibility shortcut is enabled, if you have to start TalkBack,
press and hold power button for 3 seconds, then hold 2 fingers on
 the
screen. You should hear a prompt to keep holding 2 fingers to
 enable
accessibility. Continue to hold the 2 fingesrs on the screen till
 you
 hear the prompt accessibility enabled.
Granularity refers to text navigation options, switch between
 word,
line and character. This a slightly complex jesture for starters

Joint your both fingers together and move them from right to left to
go to next screen and left to right to go to previous screen.
Start exploring the operating system from screen one onwards to avoid confution.

 Hi,
 1. to receive the call put your finger at the centre of the screen and
swipe right, to disconnect tap around the same place.
 2. after reaching the accessibility option in settings, double tap it
and then explore the relevant option to disconnect call using power
button. also swipe up with two fingers if required.
 3. espeak is not working in Android 4.4.2, don't know about previous
versions. use lekha instead for hindi.

Just to respond to some of the questions. To deal with the first 2
issues, go to settings/accessibility. Both the option to make power
button to end call, and enable accessibility shortcut are there.
Doubletap to enable the same, you should be good to go. Ones
accessibility shortcut is enabled, if you have to start TalkBack,
press and hold power button for 3 seconds, then hold 2 fingers on
 the
screen. You should hear a prompt to keep holding 2 fingers to enable
accessibility. Continue to hold the 2 fingesrs on the screen till
 you
 hear the prompt accessibility enabled.
Granularity refers to text navigation options, switch between word,
line and character. This a slightly complex jesture for starters at
times. First place the finger on the field you need to navigate.
 Then
swipe up and then right in the same motion. After you hear an audio
feedback, explore the screen in a circle, and lift your finger on
change granularity. Again explore in a circle, and lift the finger
 on
the option that you want enabled. Then swipe from left to right to
navigate by whatever mode of granularity you chose, word, line,
 paragraph or character.
Doubletapping and long pressing on a file should give you option to
cut or copy it, and an easier way is to connect the phone to the PC
and explore the files and sort it with windows explorer.
 Best,

Re: [Mobile.AI] Queries about Using Android

2014-06-18 Thread Dr. G. Janardhana Naidu
Dear Sir,
Will you please throw light on the purpose of each gesture?
What are the important applications useful to visually impaired in
android 4.4.2 environment?
Thanks in advance,
Janardhana Naidu.

 1. there're many gesture, like, double tap, tap and hold, swipe to different

direction, swipe down then right, swipe up then right ETC. you can create
some other gesture in manage gesture.
 2. as far as full control is concerned, android is new platform and it's not

as accessible as cymbian phones. it's controlled by the different gestures.
 3. different instruments may provide different facility in this regard.
generally, making call to the contact person, double tap at the name,
otherwise activate dialpad and dial to the required person. receive call to

swipe a finger left to right. reject the call to swipe a finger right to
left or press power button if activated.
call to a contact person to go in fone app, find search box, double tap at
it, keyboard will be appeared, as you'll type suggestion at the top can be
 located.
 4. go to call history in phone app.
 5. to send message go to message app, find 2 search boxes one is sender's
identity and other is message body, you can activate them one by one by
double tap and right appropriate content. every new message appears in
notification menu, activate and read it. whenever word is typed suggestions

can be located as cymbian phones.
 6. install an app from playstore for the purpose, recordings can be find in

 its self made folder.
 7. accessibility option can be find inside setting. to activate granularity

you must swipe a finger on the screen up then right, after that put finger
at the center of the screen and swipe round like a hand of clock.
note: inside accessibility you can take the advantage of short accessibility

tutorial, it's very good to learn.

Subject: [Mobile.AI] Queries about Using Android

Dear expert friends, please answer my basic queries regarding the use of
Android phones with touch screen. My queries may sound to you very silly

but they are basic to me. If you answer all these queries, it will prepare

a nice guide for the new Android users.
Q1. What are the different finger gestures and how are they used? q2. At
present, I am using Nokia Phone with Talks and I have full control over it

because the menu key, the option key, the back key, the call and receive
key, the cancel key, the arrow keys and the entire key pad is in my hold.

But in Android, where are these keys? There location is not fixed. q3. How

to make a call or how to receive or cancel a call? How to select a
particular person from the list of contacts? where do we find the key pad

to type the initial letter of that person? q4. How to find and delete the

miscalls? q5. How to send, read or delete a message, where to locate the
key pad to type, and where to find the option key? How to do the spell
checking? Where is the dictionary? q6. Where is the voice recorder? If we

record something, where to locate that recorded file? q7. How to move from

one screen to another? How to move the icons from one screen to another?
q8. Where is the accessibility option and where is the granularity option?

By now you must have realized that my main problem is to locate the
different keys. Once I get a firm grip over the keys, rest of the things
 should be easier.
 Thanking you, yours,
