The talks based phones and TalkBack based phones work very differently. It is about getting the concepts right, remember you have to doubletap to activate something on a touchscreen phone ones TalkBack is enabled. Talks and simbian are things of the past and there no more new phones coming out on the platform, Android does offer a lot more exciting possibilities. So it is hard to say Talks based systems were better. Anyways it really doesn't matter, take your time to understand the Android/TalkBack interface, give yourselves a week or 10 days, try and explore some Android tutorials, you should be good to go.
