Re: [Mono-dev] Finalize problem
Hi Neale, Yes you are correct in the fact we are transitioning to GitHub issues in place of Bugzilla for Mono related bugs. We will keep an eye on both for the foreseeable future, and I can’t make any promise on what’s the future of Bugzilla; it will remain readable for the world, but might not be writable anymore. I raised the following a few days ago wrt to crashing during finalizer processing that seems related to a recent change. https://github.com/mono/mono/issues/6208 Neale ___ Mono-devel-list mailing list Mono-devel-list@lists.dot.net http://lists.dot.net/mailman/listinfo/mono-devel-list
Re: [Mono-dev] 5.10
Hello, We are working on pushing it to the stable release channel, it should be done imminently now. If you want to try it right now, you can find it in the preview release channel at http://www.mono-project.com/download/preview/ -- Ludovic From: Mono-devel-liston behalf of Neale Ferguson Sent: Friday, February 23, 2018 12:10 PM To: Mono-Devel Subject: [Mono-dev] 5.10 Is there a ballpark estimate on when 5.10 may be released? Re: [Mono-dev] Future of mono
Hi, He future of the Mono framework is bright and long! It’s in our core business to support the different platforms that we support today (macOS, Linux, Windows, iOS, Android, PS4, Xbox, FreeBSD, Haiku, etc.), an. d we are not planning to drop support for any of these platforms any time soon. We are even currently adding support for WebAssembly to be able to run .NET on the Web. .NET Core and Mono complement each other with Mono going to places where .NET Core doesn’t go. Also, Mono supports different capabilities than .NET Core does and so has different advantages. If you still want to be able to target both runtimes, you should target .NET Standard which is the common bits between and the .NET runtimes (.NET Fx, .NET Core, Mono and .NET Native). I hope this help, and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to task. Questions come into my mind when I have read somewhere that .net core would eventually replace mono framework. If that's the case in near future...what would migration plan from mono to .net core? Re: [Mono-dev] 5.x
The next stable release will be based on 5.8, and should be out imminently. Do you have a specific timeline requirement? -- Ludovic From: Mono-devel-liston behalf of Neale Ferguson Sent: Monday, January 22, 2018 11:29 AM To: Mono-Devel Subject: [Mono-dev] 5.x What is the next stable release going to be and is there an ETA? 5.4.1.7 is the current one but is missing a couple of fixes for s390x. I’d like to build RPMs for the community but want to base it on the most current stable release.
