In my case I was inspired to recount my blessings... as even hough Ive
lost much... it wasnt the wipe out inlike 24 hours that these people
have suffered.. so I feel a bit Foolish,,, and My gestapo ex-wife
meanie seems like santa clause
compared to Katrina... so. Its a great lesson that we never know
whos next..

I ronically My ex is now a Hospice nurse so she deals with people that
are waiting to Die... these people have NO hope of survival and
basically fall apart and wake up to the fact they are terminal... slow
death.

My summer was highlighted by meeting the woman of Montreal in May,,,
then In August we met and went to cedar

we saw all kind of stuff... but she said.. she didnt Love me

anyways Toledo ,Ohio has taken on a great newness for me... the
bland grey skies are compelling no tropical

with Mcds and whoppers dodles and tacao bell..

and best buy, a the tranquilty of nothingness. matter of
fact I think this even bore terrorists... and I wouldnt be surprised if
they looked at a map and said Toledo noone would miss IT!!!

so lets see... I was divorced in 2000 in 2001 9/11 happened and
since we seem to have two disaters a year,,

at this point ,,,by the time Im ready to move , gas will be 20.00 a

[MOPO] Hurricane Rita news from Houston....

2005-09-21 Thread Captain Bijou

As I write this note, Hurricane Rita has been
upgraded to a category 4 hurricane packing winds up to 140 miles an hour.

It is presently scheduled to make landfall sometime
Friday evening along the Texas coast, though some weather models put Rita's path
as far north as Louisiana and as far south as Mexico.

Storm surge in the Galveston/Houston area is
expected to reach 14 feet, inundating the Galveston, which is presently under a
mandatory evacuation notice -- as is nearby Friendswood -- for the island's
267,000 inhabitants. No traffic will be allowed into Galveston after 6 pm
tonight. Other coastal areas including Seabrook, Texas City, League
City, and evenNASA's Johnson Spaceflight Center, are under a
voluntary evacuation notice.Evacuees are presently be directed to
inland cities of Brenham, Huntsville andDallas.

Classes in Houston area schools have been cancelled
beginning today in some areas.

The evacuation is progressing smoothly, but traffic
is heavy on all evacuation routes.

The city of Houston is 50 miles inland and 50 feet
above sea level. Some flooding is anticipated in flood prone areas. Supplies
forHoustonians intent on ridingout the storm are in short supply.
Water, plywood, batteries and portable generator inventories were exhausted by
yesterday evening, althoughretailers areattempting to replenish
theirsupplies as quickly as possible.

The last major hurricane to strike Texas was Alicia
in 1983, a category 3 storm. It flooded downtown Houston, spawned 22 tornadoes
in its wake and left 21 dead.

If you would like to follow Hurricane Rita from a
Houston perspective, click on any of the below links:

KPRC-TV, Channel 2
http://www.click2houston.com/index.html

THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE
http://www.chron.com/

KHOU-TV , Channel 11
http://www.khou.com/

I will be riding out the storm here in Houston. I
live in an area of Houston with the highest elevation. Other poster dealers in
this area -- March Schooley, Gene Arnold, Willie Patterson and Roy Bonario --
are, at last notice, staying as well.
I anticipate losing power for at least 3-5 days,
and have stockpiled enough water, food and batteries to cover that
period. My greatest concerns are damage caused the hurricane's high winds
and the tornadoes thatare certain to follow.

Due to the enormous size of Rita, the early wave
surge is due to start tomorrow, rising in intensity until the storm makes
landfall on Friday evening. Sadly, New Orleans will receive a storm surge as
well. Even a four footer could compromise the damaged levees and flood the city
once again .

suggest there is nothing right about that particular auction and it

[MOPO] FS: odd poster for HATED (1994)

2005-09-21 Thread Kirby McDaniel

This is a poster for Todd Phillips' first film HATED (1994.)

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0680846/

This is not a one sheet but it did come from the collection of an art
house that we bought out last year.

The poster measures 20x24 and is rolled. Condition is VG ++ to VF,
but not
near mint.

The art on the poster is by mass murderer John Wayne Gacy. He's the
guy who dressed up like a clown and killed lots of boys in Illinois.
Songwriter
Sufjan Stevens, whom I like a lot, wrote and song about him and
included it
in his new album COME ON FEEL THE ILLINOISE. This may be the most
beautiful
song ever written about a mass murderer. Stevens is a major talent
in my book, but
that is off topic.

I think this is an interesting poster for a alt-cinema collection and
I offer it here for
$50.00 + shipping of $8.50.

Jpeg is available upon request.

Please inquire to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[MOPO] Off topic: THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT

2005-09-21 Thread Kirby McDaniel

Jesus. I just watched this Jet Blue Canyon Blue aircraft emergency
landing
at LAX live on MSNBC. Fortunately the Jet Blue pilot landed the
plane, which
had its front landing gear stuck in the wrong position, safely. Jet
Blue, which
flies all Airbus planes, have individual TVs at each seat in a deal
with DirecTV.
It was therefore completely likely that some of the passengers were
watching
their own imminent crash landing on CNN and MSNBC. Thank God there
was a safe ending to this harrowing incident.

okay it works like this.. first of all the guy wants people to see
multiple bids as it helps an item sell.. so he keeps entering a bid
at the next increment over his own hi-bid

$382, 383, 384, 385, 386, 387 etc.

why he did it 378 times, must have been when he was smoking pot and
drinking beer (mostly beer I'm sure) and was in all likelihood having
a real hoot with himself

the moral we should all learn? Don't do it at home folks.. ! Only
have fun with yourself in public...

Re: [MOPO] Interesting Bid History

2005-09-21 Thread Phil Edwards Cinema Arts

If you bid increasing amounts, it only shows the next increment when
ANOTHER bidder places a higher bid.

I've bid a couple of times (prior to using sniping only) to cover my
previous bid if I wasn't around for the end of auction.

Why this guy put in all those bids is anybodys guess, but I like the
pot/beer theory.

I agree, That was the most amazing thing I have seen in ages!! I was very
impressed with the way the Pilots and crews handled that!! My hats off to
them!

And to watch it on TV while you are on the plane!! WOW!
