[MOPO] FA 300 Fr. It. one two-panels, 400 WCs end 2/14 on eBay

2006-02-13 Thread Bruce Hershenson

I want to let all MoPo readers know of the really excellent group of 712
items (French 47 x 63 one-panels  misc. French sizes;
Italian 39 x 55 one-panels 55 x 78
two-panels, and over FOUR HUNDRED 14 x 22 window cards) which
I added to eBay on the 7th, starting at around 7 PM CST, which end on the
14th, starting at around the same time.
What items are included? A lot of really rare and desirable items! There
are LOTS AND LOTS of better titles, and most of the French
and Italian posters have images that are completely different and often
superior to the U.S. posters (and are likely new to you). Here are some
highlights:
Window Cards: An incredible collection of Hitchcock window cards
(including Psycho, Dial M For Murder, To Catch a Thief, Rebecca, Vertigo,
and many more!), Dr. No and Thunderball, Wings('27), The Covered Wagon,
Prince and the Showgirl, David Copperfield, Whoopee ('30), Prince and the
Showgirl, This Island Earth, etc, etc!
French one-panels: BATMAN ('66), CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BRIGADE (R50s),
CITIZEN KANE (R50s), EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN, IT'S A WONDERFUL WORLD ('39,
Soubie art), MR HULOT'S HOLIDAY, REBECCA, VIVA LAS VEGAS, etc, etc!
Italian one-panels: ABOMINABLE DR PHIBES, BLUE VELVET, FISTFUL OF DOLLARS
(R70s), FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET, GET CARTER, INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN,
YELLOW SUBMARINE (R70s), etc, etc!
Italian two-panels: BLOB, DIRTY HARRY (R70s), I MARRIED A MONSTER FROM
OUTER SPACE, etc!
I KNOW THIS IS MY BEST OFFERING OF THESE SIZES EVER, with lots more top
of the line items other than those listed above! But since every single
one of these items started at just 99 cents with no reserve there will be
surely some real bargains, and maybe a few outright steals!
With less than three days to go, there are still around 230 items still
at their starting price of 99 cents each(!), around 370 items under $5,
around 550 items under $20, and around 605 under $30! While many of these
will likely get several more bids, there will also likely be a fair
number that end up at ridiculously low prices, but YOU can't get those
great deals if you aren't bidding! And almost all of the 100 or so items
that are over $30 are mostly WAY under their regular retail prices (the
ones you can find anywhere else). YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE! If you place
a bunch of low bids but only get a one or two items, then you are sure to
be happy. Even if get nothing, you will only be out a little of your
time, and no more (since this is one auction of quality material you
don't need to travel to!).
REMEMBER THAT IN THESE AUCTIONS (as in all MY auctions), THERE ARE NO
OUTRAGEOUS BUYER'S PREMIUMS! Other auctions charge between 15% and 20%
EXTRA, for no other reason than to line their pockets with your money. In
these auctions, what you bid is what you pay, plus the actual cost of
shipping the item to you, plus $2 for packaging materials. If you have
ever bought from any other major auction company, you are
probably still stunned by their buyers premiums and by how much
handling fees they packed onto their shipping charges, but we
never do that!
REMEMBER THAT ONCE YOU BUY ANY ONE ITEM, WE WILL BE THEN BE SENDING A
PACKAGE TO YOU, and the cost of adding one or more additional items to
that package is pretty slight. So you have great incentive to add
additional inexpensive items to your purchases, since they will cost you
next-to-nothing extra for shipping!
I know it can be difficult to look over this many great items in just a
few days, but remember you can use our exclusive Current Auction Image
Gallery (which is located at

http://www.emovieposter.com/gallery/currentauctions.php ) which has
large thumbnails of all our eBay items, and links from each item to the
actual eBay auction. Best of all, this gallery is searchable! You will
really find this a great benefit if you want to look at all of our items
this week! You can simply browse all of our current items by viewing the
images in this gallery (40 to a page, but you can set it to display only
20 items per page or up to 100 items a page, depending on the speed of
your Internet connection) in our number order, or you can use our search
to only see thumbnails of your specific search terms (in our number
order)! NOTE THAT THIS GALLERY NOW HAS A RECENT BID PRICE LISTED BY EACH
ITEM, AND THE PRICES ARE UPDATED AT LEAST ONCE A DAY! THIS GALLERY CAN
ALSO NOW BE SORTED BY PRICE (high to low or low to high), WHICH IS A
GREAT HELP TO THOSE OF YOU WANTING TO JUST FOCUS ON THE BEST (or least
expensive) ITEMS! I urge all of you to go to our gallery this week and at
least glance over all the large thumbnails, EVEN IF YOU HAVE NO INTEREST
IN BIDDING ON THESE ITEMS! Why do I say this? Because it is fun to
“window shop” when you are looking at this well-organized gallery,
especially given all the many wonderful items we are selling this week
(it is likely many of them will have images you have never seen before)!

Be sure to check out these 712 items (French 47 x 63
one-panels misc. French

2006-02-13 Thread Joseph Mitch

what are these?... They sure look like lobby cards.

I was looking at the Bob Peak Tribute site by his son Tom Peak.My

Re: [MOPO] Bob Peak Tribute Site

2006-02-13 Thread Phil Edwards Cinema Arts

Tom - yes, it is s strange ommission, although I note a couple of other
things - I see that there are several other films listed that there is
no art shown for. I see that the ones that there is art for it appears
to be Peak's original art, sans credits, rather than shots of finished
posters.

The ommission of SPY from the list of films itself though is odd. I can
imagine there may be rights issues to do with the use of the poster
imagery in this way, but the ommission of the title itself from Peak's
work is strange. Have you asked tom peak why the titke itself is mising?
I can understand that he might not want to discuss issues with
availability of artwork, but to not have the film listed at all is
definitely odd. Unless, of course, Peak was not the only artist who
worked on it (not unusual for Bond films in many ways - let's face it,
the movies themselves have long looked like camels - horses designed by
a committe) and it simply may be that Tom Peak is not recognising an
artwork that his father felt had been compromised in some way. Just a
guess, there, but try asking Tom Peak directly why the film isn't even
listed in the credits.

Phil

Hi Joe!

If you're talking about the Hair-Raising Hare image, then that is a snipe that
was printed by the studios (a little smaller than 8x10) that was to be pasted
onto the stock one sheets that were issued. These individual snipes are very
scarce and are rarely offered for sale.

Re: [MOPO] Bob Peak Tribute Site

2006-02-13 Thread Tom A. Pennock

Hi Phil:

Thank's for the good reply. I tried to contact Tom Peak but
unfortunately did not get too far. I did not hear back. Yes, I think you are
correct that the artwork on his Dad's tribute site is concept posterart
and in many cases not the final product.Yes, it's possible that more than
oneartist worked on the "Spy" 007 poster. Before this title when Cubby
Broccoli still had the partnership with Harry Saltzman the poster's featured
collage artwork. When Cubby Broccoli bought out Harry Saltzman's interest in the
series he wanted an entirely different approach to the poster's and
films..So not only dothe poster's from "The Spy Who Loved Me" look
great and different they also shot "Spy" in Panavision. This was the first Roger
Moorevehicle in scope, 2.35:1

Now I am kind of wondering if possibly EON might own the artwork
design to "Spy". Just a theory but an interesting thought none the less. Yes, I
also find it very odd that there is no mention of this title at all. Soon my
mint 40" x 60" will be going to the frame shop. Many thank's to my friend Todd
Feiertag for storing this poster so well out of the light to preserve it. There
are other 40" x 60's" out there on this title but this one of mine is pristine.
The problem with these type's of cardboardstock posters is condition
problems in so many cases. Especially crinkles. I am ecstatic that Todd
preserved this so well for so many years. Thank's again Todd if you are reading
this.

Thank's toyou too Phil and if anyoneelse reading this learns
anything about this 007 campaign please post to MOPO or e-mail me.

All The Best,
