Jr, You stated with absolute certainty the following ". It is also why a restored on linen poster, even one that "looks mint",is never going to bring in as much money a non-backed poster, if the non-backed poster is in C8 or better condition (as defined by Jon Warren at): JR. I can disprove that statement100 fold rendering thatdeclaration to its knees. Now are you sure you want to go to that near-to-mint, un restored, original release edition of famous quotes we should have known betterlike"all minty white inserts are fakes" or "all re-release onesheetsare always less in value than their original year of release". Re: [MOPO] When Great Mopo'er Say Stupid Things We Let'em Then Cry Flag On The Play
Freeman, I should have said "It is also why a restored on linen poster, even one that "looks mint",is never going to bring in as much money a non-backed poster, if the non-backed poster is in C8 or better condition (as defined by Jon Warren) AND BOTH POSTERS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET AT THE SAME TIME." Obviously, if it is a rare poster and there is only one copy available and it happens to be "restored on linen" (meaning it has considerably more than minor fold touch-up) and several people want it, it will probably bring in more than an unbacked, unrestored C9 sold for several years ago. But you're not seriously going to tell me you or any other informed serious collector is going to prefer (and pay more for) a "restored on linen" if at the same time they could purchase an unbacked, unrestored C8, 9 or 10 are you? I still thinkall "minty white unrolled" inserts are fakes -- or at least have to considered so until they can be compared *physically* by experts against a known original. Sorry, but I do. I know many others disagree, and they may be may be right -- but I have to goby my own40 years of collecting experience and I personally have never seen 30-year old insert paper that hasn't aged at least atiny bit -- it wasn't that high of quality paper to start with. Time takes its toll no matter how carefully something is stored. Finally, you must have me confused with someone else about saying "all re-release one sheetsare always less in value than their original year of release" because I don't happen to believe that is true in all cases (but certainly it is in 90% of the cases). If I did say that in a moment of sloppy writing, I meant to say "most re-releases..." not "all". -- JR - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: mopo-l@listserv.american.edu ; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, July 14, 2006 8:20 Subject: When Great Mopo'er Say Stupid Things We Let'em Then Cry Flag On The Play Jr, You stated with absolute certainty the following ".
