Re: [MOPO] FA: Heritage: Check out all the bargains this week!!!

2009-07-10 Thread Sean Linkenback
Everyone will get the $16 for the item correct (if it was won recently,
otherwise it was a $9 premium), it’s the shipping that will keep us
guessing.

If it was a rolled poster, I’m going to guess $9.70 for shipping. If it was
a ½ sheet or insert that they like to mail flat, I’ll guess $16.75 for
shipping, and if it was a lobby card I will guess $9.15 for shipping.

Hey Jeff,

These titles both have known reprints made. I actully have these
exact same posters hanging in a work office along with a Chaplin
reprint poster in the excat size (29x21 or so). They are not new
reprints both are at least 20 years old.

Either the seller is unaware or is trying to hoodwink somebody.

both of these posters were recently offered on ebay. they look
like one sheets BUT are only 29x21 inches. Ed from LAMP thought
they might be promo posters of some sort. The only thing printed
in the lower right border was the year, in the case of the Bow
poster, 1930. Both were linen backed as well, and the seller
was asking about $8K each. Any ideas? Are they the real deal? More
current repros?

Cheers.

that also will never sell. And we keep seeing them over and over
never listed for a $1 less.

Dear Jeff
Hello. Thank you for your kind emails. I honestly dont know.
Naturally if anyone got anything from us and for any reason they
did not like it they could return the poster for a refund within at
least a month but I had gotten these posters linen backed from Bob
Colman many many years ago and the person who got them from me is a
reputable dealer and she did not ask any questions, I sent the
posters to her and she looked tham over and decided to get them.
Naturally if she decides to return them, I would refund her but she
knows her stuff very well and I dont think they were repros done in
the last 15 years since i got them in 1990. Please keep in touch.

Sincerely.

i dont know what he sold them for... but if it was close to his
asking price... someone bought a couple 25 dollar posters for
almost 16 GRAND ouch!!

Hey Jeff,

These titles both have known reprints made. I actully have these
exact same posters hanging in a work office along with a Chaplin
reprint poster in the excat size (29x21 or so). They are not new
reprints both are at least 20 years old.

Either the seller is unaware or is trying to hoodwink somebody.

Best,
Myles

both of these posters were recently offered on ebay. they look
like one sheets BUT are only 29x21 inches. Ed from LAMP thought
they might be promo posters of some sort. The only thing printed
in the lower right border was the year, in the case of the Bow
poster, 1930. Both were linen backed as well, and the seller
was asking about $8K each. Any ideas? Are they the real deal?
More current repros?

Cheers.

[MOPO] FA: Speaking of bargains - we have a bunch

2009-07-10 Thread Sean Linkenback
I was just taking a quick look at my 200+ auctions as they enter the
homestretch this weekend and I had to pinch Bruce to make sure I wasn't
dreaming at the low, low prices at which so many of the items are sitting.
You can check out all the auctions here
http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/platinumposters .

Sure things like the Creature 3-sheet, or the original Dracula lobby card,
or the All About Eve insert get a lot of attention, but I was really struck
by how many dirt-cheap bargains are just waiting to be scooped up many times
with no bids or only a single bid from another dealer. Things like:

 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=320394227638 Immoral
Mr. Teas Russ Meyer WC at $9.99

I won't even start on things like the Isle

Dead title card that is only $20, or the Invasion
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=220448032022 of the

Re: [MOPO] FA: Heritage: Check out all the bargains this week!!!

2009-07-10 Thread Evan Zweifel
Yes, you were exactly right!! A T-shirt too!

Well, not really. It was ONLY $27.35 ($9 for the BP, and $16.35 for S/H).

Thanks, everyone, for the very entertaining emails.

And yes, I realize that it would be $5 MORE now -- so $32.35 for a $2 item!

The real killer is the new BP Minimum of $14 -- which is 700% for a $2 item!
My math suggests that the BP doesn't really drop to 19.5% until the bid reaches
$74! Seems like they really should only be offering titles that routinely sell
for AT LEAST $75 -- but that doesn't seem to be the case.
