eBay is offering no listing fees right now so that's probably why you see so
many movie posters with high prices. Although when I look for my interest -
movies that were promoted as being 'In CINERAMA I see the same high prices,
month after month. They never sell and the dealer never lowers their prices.

[MOPO] OT: INDEPENDENCE

2010-07-04 Thread Kirby McDaniel
Please indulge an off topic post. You might think that this
is simply another story about a wounded vet. It is. But it
also about the precious nature and difficulty of independence. What is it,
and what
should it mean to all of us? I have a 96 year old father, and he is now totally
dependent upon his caregivers, my sister and her husband and myself. I don't
usually tear up over the New York Times, but I did this morning.

You should take the time to read this. If it doesn't break your heart,
and then lift it, you probably don't have one.

Re: [MOPO] Fwd: [MOPO] fun questions

2010-07-04 Thread Bruce Hershenson
I just watched the classic W.C. Fields' selling of the Beefstake Mine
stock scene from The Bank Dick, and I think the following is a better case
of salesmanship:

Why waste your money in the stock market? It can crash regardless of
any decision you make and can even crash regardless of any decision made by
the company related to the stock - Leaving you with a near worthless piece
of paper that won't inspire anyone! With the purchase of an historic
document such as this Star Wars Glory Book, it doesn't matter what happens
to the economy, you will still have the inspirational document which can be
displayed and enjoyed. The magnificence of art and historic documents have
an inherent value that relates to civilization and society. Unless
civilization itself crashes then this piece will hold its value and if
civilization itself crashes - Who will care about money? This is definitely
ECONOMY PROOF!

I would suggest adding the following to the end of the above

Don't be a mooncalf, don't be a jabbernowl, don't be a luddyduddy... BUY
NOW!

them by highest price first with 100 per page. After 3 pages I stopped
because the prices were too ridiculous for words and it was a total waste of

*My fun question is - Which seller has the most ridiculous prices on ebay?

[MOPO] Absenteeism

2010-07-04 Thread Richard Halegua Comic Art

where has Richie been??

man-o-man. I've been bidding on then moving truckloads of comic
books and stuff from someone's bankrupt warehouse to my warehouse and
let me tell you.. it wasn't as much fun as it sounds. the temperature
has been 100+ all week and I drank more than 1/2 a case of water
everyday. I only just finished last night and I even brought back
some stuff that MoPolian society is interested in

meanwhile, I can't believe how active it's been here and you can be
sure I will be commenting on the CGC thread after I can maybe read

Re: [MOPO] Just when I thought the suits at eBay couldn't get any more stupid! This is their lamest move yet

2010-07-04 Thread James Richard
This is ploy to get everyone to pay everything with PayPal. Since
Ebuggers owns PayPal (and the link the PAY NOT button on your what I
won on ebay page to PayPal IF you pay with PayPal the payment is
automatically filed. The seller does not have to do it. Otherwise, you
may get hassled. An explanation, not an excuse.
