[MOPO] FA: Our August Auction is online

2010-08-03 Thread Sean Linkenback

Our August auction is up and running right now on eBay (closing Sunday August
8th).
In addition to a fine selection of one-sheet and lobbies, we have a really
top-notch selection of 200+ posters from Finland from the 50s through the 80s.
This offering includes a lot of rarely seen sci-fi and horror titles (of
course) including many titles that were never even released to the theaters in
the USA. This is really worth taking the time to carefully check out -
especially as a majority of the titles have completely different graphics than
their US counterparts and most of these posters should be very affordable even
though they are several times rarer than US or UK posters.
click on this link to view them all -
http://shop.ebay.com/platinumposters/m.html - and make sure you use the
gallery view so you can see the artwork better.

A few of the highlights this time around:

Under the Red Sea - fantastic image of a girl and shark
High School Hellcats One-Sheet - one of the best bad girl posters
Wizard of Oz - 1955 title card and 2 scene cards
Blood and Black Lace/House of Exorcism - two great Bava Horror posters
Planet of the Apes - incredibly rare Finnish poster
Mesa of Lost Women One-sheet - very rare size for this tough title
War of the Gargantuas Finnish Poster (I had never even seen one of these before)
Cars That Eat People (Paris) Finnish poster
And really - just too much to list, so please check it all out

Thanks,

Sean

[MOPO] FA: Part I of our Summer 2010 Mini/Major Auction closes TONIGHT; still many bargains on top items great bonuses too!

2010-08-03 Thread Bruce Hershenson
*Part I of our Summer 2010 Mini/Major Auction closes TONIGHT, August 3rd,
beginning at 7 PM CST*!

With just 12 hours to go, the 313 items ending the 3rd include 27 that are
still under $20 (and even those buyers will get our * bonus
t-shirthttp://www.emovieposter.com/images/specialnotes/20100727_gilda_tshirt_summer2010minimajorauction.jpg
*!), a surprising 70 that are still under $30, an absurd 102 are still under
$40, and a mind-boggling 127 are still at under $50 each!

*GIVEN THAT EVERY BUYER GETS A FULL-COLOR T-SHIRT, AND GIVEN THAT MOST OF
THESE POSTERS ARE CURRENTLY AT HALF OR LESS THAN PREVIOUS SALES FOR THAT
ITEM, THIS SURELY REPRESENTS ONE OF THE GREATEST BUYING OPPORTUNITIES IN THE
HISTORY OF ONLINE AUCTIONS!*

But wait! There's even more! If you are one of the 6,300+ members of our
weekly e-mail club (and if you are not, you can join right now at *
http://www.emovieposter.com/mail/clubsignup.php*!), you get incredible
bonuses if you can find just five items in any of the three parts of these
auctions *COMBINED*, and you get additional great bonuses for every
additional item you purchase up to 12 (if you get 12 items combined in the
three parts, you get nearly *SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS* retail of great book
bonuses!) and we even pay the U.S. shipping (if you live outside the U.S.,
you pay the difference between U.S. shipping and the actual cost of getting
them to you). If you *ARE *in the club, but missed these offers in the
latest club message, you can go to that message at
*http://www.emovieposter.com/club/email.php
* and read the exact details of these great bonus offers.

*AND ALL THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE FULL-COLOR T-SHIRT EVERY BUYER
RECEIVES*(compare this to those other auctions which give you
* NO* bonuses of any kind, but hit you with a massive 20% or 25% buyers
premium, sales tax in many states, and high, and sometimes outrageous
shipping charges)!

[MOPO] Question for EBAY Sellers

2010-08-03 Thread channinglylethomson

8/3/2010

Hello Everyone --

I'm directing this question to those who sell via EBAY. Does anyone
know if they cancelled the Featured Listing choice when creating an
auction on EBAY? I tried to do this and the option seems to be gone.
It used to cost about $35. but it moved you to the top of category
listings as a featured listing. If they have done this, does anyone
know why?

Thanks, Channing

2010-08-03 Thread Richard Auras
They killed that feature about 8 months ago during one of their many revamps.
You used to see all the featured listings on the home page as well as within
the
category itself.  I am surprised that they stopped something that was actually
making them more money on a single listing.  That is not usually the way they
go.

Re: [MOPO] Question for EBAY Sellers

2010-08-03 Thread Richard Halegua Comic Art

they're always messing with the site

for instance a week or two ago, I noticed that when you saw category
listings, underneath each item was the seller's name, feedback some
other info. a day or so later it was changed back
I liked it.. it meant I didn't have to look at some A$$hole listings
that I would know had reserves or bad fb etc

it was the first SMART thing I thought fleaBay had done in years..
I guess it was too progressive for them

They killed that feature about 8 months ago during one of their many

as well as within the category itself. I am surprised that they
stopped something that was actually making them more money on a
single listing. That is not usually the way they go.

Subject: [MOPO] Question for EBAY Sellers

8/3/2010

Hello Everyone --

I'm directing this question to those who sell via EBAY. Does anyone
know if they cancelled the Featured Listing choice when creating an
auction on EBAY? I tried to do this and the option seems to be
gone. It used to cost about $35. but it moved you to the top of
category listings as a featured listing. If they have done this,
does anyone know why?

Thanks, Channing

[MOPO] EBAY SUCKS and so on....

2010-08-03 Thread Rixposterz

Obviously. eBay sucks. I'm selling one sheets that I'd advertise (and
sell) in Movie Collector's World for 40 or 50 bucks 15 years ago now included
in
an eBay auction for virtually 1/4 or less that amount---as part of a 3
Orig US one sheets for $19.99 auction on eBay. Hey, maybe Bruce or Rich can
sell the SAME one sheet for MORE...nevertheless the reality is that eBay
DOES SUCK...selling original movie posters SUCKS (unless you have the RIGHT
movie poster) and sad to say, as EBay sucks--as most move posters SUCK, so
goes the hobby. All this happy-talk from some dealers is fine, but these
are strange days, indeed...

By the way
I lied in my original post. I'm so old there WERE no movies in the year
of my birth. We made shadow puppets with our hands in front of candles.

I apologize to the group.
