Looks like somebody's gonna pay a hefty sum for what I believe to be  a 
repro. (Check the updated notation near bottom of page). The DUCK  SOUP one 
sheet the guy has up for auction is DEFINITELY a  repro...I bought one in 
Hollywood about 25 years ago for a few  hundred bucks...only to find later that 
somebody had printed 200 of  them...maybe the earliest, best example of a one 
sheet reproduction.  Feel  sorry for the buyer who thinks he's hit on 
paydirt with this Cocoanuts  poster...

Here's a perfect example where too many movie poster collectors (and  
dealers) on eBay have no idea what they're doing---as a result, buyers get  
taken 
for sometimes huge sums of money for a $50 repro that they believe is  
manna from Heaven and the seller loses all credibility in the process. Just an  
observation..

I agree ... I owned the Cocoanuts poster looong ago, have since sold for a 
minimal amount to a 'Marx person'.
I messaged the seller with information about the poster and stated that he 
could contact 2 stand-up guys ...

The marx bros guys name is jason judd. He knows they are not real, and he  
doesn't care. He is a criminal. Sometimes sellers are really clueless and 
want  to do the right thing so I generally give them the benefit of the doubt. 
That is  NOT the case here.

we had several emails back and forth yesterday, here  is one of the 
messages he sent:

like I said not worried about the  truth but I have a good feeling is that 
you dont even have a clue if this is  real or not. Like i told you on last 
text I've been in contact with some one and  if i find out thats its real im 
going to a different market. Just perhaps  if it ever did turn out the 
posters are fake how much would the posters be  worth.

so, if he finds out they are real he will remove them from ebay  and try 
and get a better price elsewhere, probably an auction house. Funny thing  is 
that I told him to contact Heritage, Bruce, LAMP, and MPGrading for their  
opinions, but he refuses.

Back in the mid sixties we use to include his film's in our midnight
new america cinema screenings at the Bleecker Street Cinema. He ( and
his brother Mike ) were the gentlest and most naive of film makers,
creating by
accident what so many others find impossible to create on purpose. One
of my favorite shorts was a tour de force of stop motion featuring an
apartment being taken over by wire clothing

I watched the video...clearly movie posters are the proverbial orphan child
as compared to film when it would come to foundation monies or donations
form the wealthy to restore...especially since most of these materials today
are in private hands..however i have spent and continue to spend my own
money to restore posters that i own as do others and eventually whether they
get sold, as will happen to most collections or donated there will be a
substantial amount of restored material. Now for those of you, the vast
minority, who believe that it's sacrilege to restore a poster I suggest you
