The Posters are original, and come from a Regional Film
Archive in Mexico City.

They were designed in Hollywood and printed in Mexico.

Each Poster contains the same design elements found on
Posters from the US.

They contain both stills from the Film and also design
elements from the One Sheet Poster.

The typography, photos, artwork, stars names, credits,
drawings, scenes, emotional impact,

appeal, and intrinsic value are
virtually the same as Posters from Hollywood or any other

international Metropolis where the film had been shown.

However, the layout will be much flashier, more graphically
intensive, or even more lurid.

The size is appx. 13" x 17"---over 40% larger than
a standard Lobby Card.

As such, each Poster is a cross between a Jumbo Lobby Card,
Title Card, and a One Sheet Poster.

The Posters were printed on either heavy Cardboard Stock,
thick fine Linen Paper, or

sturdy Poster Stock.

Overall very good condition, altho there will be occasional
tears, pinholes, stains, etc.

There are eight different variations for each
poster---containing different stills from the film.

Some dupes.

[MOPO] Silent Selznick...

2013-05-21 Thread Daniel Kinske
I'll try to type this very quietly, but sounds like the subject of silents is
increasing in volume (units sold?) ;)

I am interested in any Silent era Selznick Pictures posters and pressbooks and
any ephemera from 1920-1924. Goldwyn from 1919-1920,
Warner brothers 1925-1927.

Examples from Hoot Gibson's 1921 Universal film, "Red Courage" as one was by
Hirschfeld.

These are very hard to discern artists, but I can sometimes do it right.

At my post limit, so ttys :)

Re: [MOPO] question to mopo members

2013-05-21 Thread Daniel Kinske
Tomopo,

Well I can't speak for the masses today, and the silent stars had their say
(kind of ;) but even though I am a Hirschfeld art nut his span of work began in
the silent era so I am always looking out for his artwork there--he drew Theda
Bara in 1923 and Jackie Coogan in 1922, etc. I like to find rare photos of the
subjects too for future comparison and depth of story when they can be
published again.

There are color rotos of stars from the 30s and 40s and I don't think a lot of
people realize it's true color not colorized after the fact.

However, the rarity makes these hard to find, but the benefit lie waiting for
those who can.

Yep, Simon's right that there's a 'Special' Saint Joan in terms of the Advance,
tritone 'Casting Hunt' 1sh that eventually landed Jean Seberg the role (if you
believe Preminger's hype).

Only a couple of these have ever come up for sale and so the w/c is a possible
alternative if one wants a starker, logo led poster than the regular 1sh.

Interestingly, although the 1/2 sheet, title card and w/c are almost identical,
only the w/c has the Bass signature.

All best

Re: [MOPO] posters wanted

2013-05-21 Thread Simon Oram
The window card for Saint Joan looks like one of the silk screens, it's the
same design as the special poster commissioned by Preminger to advertise for an
actress for the new production of Saint Joan and was posted in theatres.

Yep Rich, no silkscreen of Saint Joan, as the 1sh that ran was Bass' preferred
and unaltered design.

Thought Bass used the 1-sht trimmed down.

[MOPO] FA: Guess the movie quote: "It's Halloween, everyone's entitled to one good scare"

2013-05-21 Thread David
This week's title should scare up a few bids and look - NO reserve, NO
buyers premium, NO consignment fees, and NO surveys!

http://www.vintagemovieposters.com.au/auctions

And because competition is healthy and not to be outdone by the King of
movie poster auctions from West Plains, MO (I want to keep him on his
toes) and to protect the innocent I will not be mentioning any names but
we all know who you are...we too got a email on our service the other
day, and I quote:

"Poster arrived. Thanks"

Frankly, it doesn't get better than that does it?! :-D

Happy bidding from the hardest working smallest auction site with the
smallest turnover, the smallest number of movie posters auctioned each
week AND the smallest number of staff. In the world!

regards
