Congrats. I bought the OS, as well as a few other items that I was thrilled to acquire (at what I thought were reasonable prices). I was surprised to be the only bidder on the Mutiny on the Bounty, Style D. I know it is not a high-demand poster but it is VF+ 1935 AA paper. The other copy I own is VF and I paid $2500 many years ago. I don't think there are more than a half dozen around. Looking forward to another couple deals tonight (with a little luck). Congratulations, Ralph. I recall a similar six-sheet (I don't know if this was the same) was shepherded by Rudy Franchi when he was at Christie's East in New York - though I don't think it hit reserve. (His six-sheet even went on tour - and I saw it at Christie's Beverly Hills showroom in May 2000.) What a beautiful image. When I was deep into collecting, the closest I could get to owning a similar image was when I bought from the Lazarsons - (and then later I consigned through Bruce), the more affordable window card. Good luck hanging this beauty because I'd hate to see something like this hidden away. It's really a marquee piece for a place with high-ceilings! -d. very visual piece and Imight sound like a raiders movie of Indy but thatbelongs in a museum.. I think it would be a perfect opener [oster to the new art museum George lucas is building in SF... being that huge.. it would amaze people of the pwer poster advertising had from a pop culture aspect... You could loan it and probably get a fee or tax deduction and it would be aweinspiring to manyPlus Lucas could afford to freme it well , display it well. and keep it in a climate control space fpr perpitude.. what sense does itmake to merely own it other then investment? and that art could be shared by anyone interested in film... its a showpiece...
