Re: [MOPO] Framing The French Double Panel.
Hi Tom I wonder if you've unintentionally made the poor framer slightly paranoid about framing your 'baby' and that's where the problem lies? When you love something so much and have anxieties about getting it absolutely right, it sometimes rubs off on the people who really want to help. I hope you get it framed and hung eventually .. I'm sure you will. Shelly Original Message Follows From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: MoPo-L@LISTSERV.AMERICAN.EDU Subject: [MOPO] Framing The French Double Panel. Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 21:41:11 EDT Tom, Your framer is wimping out. What you are asking them to do is simple remount this piece of canvas probably 66 x 97 onto a wood frame that has been structurally enhanced with additional support, 1 x 2 slats angled from connecting top of frame to the sides of frames. Also metal L joints, the kind used to support book shelves are to be screwed into all 4 inside corners. Then using the extra canvas surrounding poster is carefully folded over frame and stapled but not excessively taught. That will hold in check rippling. Outer ornamental frame is then measured carefully to receive inner frame. That means it has to be a thickness to accommodate the plexiglass and innerframe. Outer frame then is screwed to inner frame using two hole metal connectors when 2 panel lies face down on floor protected by a moving blanket or carpet remnant. With the fortified inner frame connected to outer frame two people should be able to carry on its side the framed 2 panel with a minimum of bowing. Use 150 pound test eyelets two on each side one on top of the other measured from top frame 15 and 17 down. Then screw hooks exactly where you want picture to hang on wall again two on each side equal distance apart as they are on back of frame and hook them onto the eyelets. This isn't rocket science but it is awkward to handle due to size and requires exact measurements. freeman fisher 8601 west knoll drive #7 west hollywood, ca 90069 Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content. _ Are you using the latest version of MSN Messenger? Re: [MOPO] Framing The French Double Panel.
Hi Shelly: Yes, I might have very well made her hesitant and nervousto begin framing the poster. She honestly told me she wake's up at night and think's "How in the world am I going to frame Tom's poster?". I am very perfectionistic too and I think many peoplein the hobby probably have this trait. Namely obsessive/compulsive.I honestly think artistic people in general are like this. I will try to give her some breathing room. Tell her it's valuable but NOT the Mona Lisa. Maybe this will help. I was happy to finally find a local frame shop that did not want to dry mount it. Ran into that at two other places. Hopefully it can be done or I will have to compromise. Wish I lived in LA. I am a bit of an oddity around here. :) Best, Tom Pennock Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
Re: [MOPO] Framing The French Double Panel.
Title: Re: [MOPO] Framing The French Double Panel. Technically, it's not a problem to frame your poster. However, you may want to find a frame shop that has experience in framing items this size. It can be done without tacking the poster to the inner frame (unless you want space holders between the glass and the poster), but in any case you may want to work with somebody who has built large size frames before. Also, when choosing a frame shop it may help to inquire about conservation framing. If you draw a blank here, better find another place. Re: [MOPO] Framing The French Double Panel.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts. Many thank's Freeman for the detailed information. Yes, my framer is wimping out. She has never framed anything this size before. She is afraid she is going to botch up my expensive original. Being a 007 poster I think I will tell her "Never Say Never Again" :) By the way rumor has it that Sir Sean Connery may make a surprise appearance in the next 007 film with Daniel Craig as the newMr. Bond.
