[MOPO] Heritage Make an offer

2011-12-22 Thread JOHN REID Vintage Movie Memorabilia
Hi Jim
I know your original email was sent by mistake but I think MoPoers would be
interested in the new Heritage Make an Offer system.
At the moment it only seems to apply to higher value material over a certain
amount but there are many items which have slipped through the net over the
years and sold for quite low prices which would attract significant offers now.
I guess it might not be practical to allow offers on all items but maybe Grey
could comment on that.
Regards
John

Hey Grey, thanks for checking on this. Mostly what I have gotten back is
that notice that says the owner didnt respond within the 72 hours. That made
me think maybe they weren't going thru. I did get that one quick decline, and
I thought that was good, as it indicated that the owner did see it. I also got
one counter offer that told me the guy got it. Mostly, however the 72 hours
expires with no response. Those indicate to me that the owner might not be
getting them.

But, if you think the system is working, thats great. However, I have some
more offers that I recently submitted that will most likely expire without a
response. It just seemed to me that if they were receiving them, they would
either reject the offer, or counter it.

Again, thanks for checking. Merry Christmas Grey! Jim

  Jim,

They researched the issue when you asked this question and sorry I have
not responded since they reported back.

I am quoting here from the tech:

” I’ve found no evidence of a problem. I’ve confirmed that all e-mails
for at least all offers Mr. Gresham made within December were sent
instantaneously. There was one instance on December 7 of one of his offers
being rejected by the owner after about half an hour; this by itself proves
that this part of the system worked as designed. I did not check the rest of
the offers to see whether they were rejected automatically or not.

Because MOTO is a hit or miss system, the client’s experience is not
unusual. As you know, there are many reasons why e-mails might not be
delivered, ranging from spam folders to bad addresses to the recipient simply
(and possibly unwittingly) ignoring them.”

I understand Jim, that some may not have reached some such as John but I
also know that John has two emails registered with us and by chance the offers
could have gone to the one that is no longer operable.

  I will inquire.

Have you received no non-acceptance notices?

Hi Grey. I have submitted a whole bunch of these. Grey, do you think
the owners are actually getting the offers? I know one owner didnt get two
offers I had made on a card he owned. But, do you think for the most part the
system is working? Jim

John,
I am sorry that I am not as conversant on the MOTO (Make Offer to Owner)
program yet, but will try and get up to speed on the price points at which it
is automatically applied to a poster and can get back with that.
I know that the buyer can go in and request the feature on items above a
certain price they have purchased and also put in a But-It-Now price on the
items they have purchased through us.
I have seen some of that going on and the purchases being made.
As you and I know, as we had an instance of late where you asked me if an item
might be available and I was able to acquire the item for you from the buyer,
but that really isn't practical for me on a wide scale. I am happy that this is
available as I have had many, many requests over the years from people wanting
to make offers to the buyers to acquire items they missed in auction.
Will let you know the details soon.
Merry Christmas!!
