This is going to be somewhat different than the usual questions
posts here...

I am part of a group of filmmakers who have just completed a feature
film, and
we want to get a small run of full size 27x40 one-sheet posters
printed. Can
anyone offer any thoughts on where to get them done, with special
emphasis on it
being inexpensive? :) (This was what is called a microcinema
production,
meaning basically zero budget.)

2011-08-12 Thread John Waldman
Off set printing would be out of your price range I would think.  And it's not
a short run process.

Screen print set ups are about $100-250 per color, plus the cost of the actual
product.  You could look for someone that does this as side work that could do
it cheaper.

You could also try to find a printer in your area that can do digital
printing.  They can produce as many posters as you want in a short amount of
time.

Go to http://www.gigposters.com/

You can browse around and find an artist there whose style fits your film and
your film's budget. Some incredible artists listed there and a huge variety of
styles to choose from.

Thanks for the ideas so far, everyone. Keep 'em coming, if possible, I
appreciate them all.

It's just printing we need, we already have a poster design. I don't need
someone to create it.

And our budget is whatever I have in my pocket. Which isn't much. :)

2011-08-12 Thread Jay Nemeth-Johannes

How big is a small run?

If it is just a couple of posters, yoiur best bet might be to find a
copy house with a large color inkjet printer. D size or larger. Give
them the highest possible resulution image file and have them print on
photo paper. Higher printing costs, but no setup charges.

2011-08-11 Thread Alan Adler
One idea would be to find someone in art college graduate school and sort
something out to design and print a silkscreen poster -
Like the old roadshow guys did.
Bold images and graphics - keyed to the genre of your film.
If horror, sci-fi or exploitation - all the better.
Garish and beautiful.
You can print as many as you want that way -
Sign them and number them and sell them, too.
