Re: [MOPO] continuation: poster values with autographs
If the autograph cannot be authenticated (not meaning a COA that anyone can create and print), and is a fake, it would bring the poster's value way down. In looking at the seller's description, he mentions nothing about where the autograph came from or who obtained it. He only talks about who the person may have been that it was inscribed to. And for many poster collectors, even an authentic signature on a poster is viewed as a kind of graffiti. So even if genuine, the signature wouldnt necessarily boost the value, but could drop it as well. Ultimately, it would be of more value to a collector who likes posters or other memorabilia that is signed. I see, too, that Bruce just sold a backed copy of this OS in December 2011, for 368.00. http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/1236364.html -kerry On Tue, Mar 6, 2012 at 1:18 PM, Michael B dialmbb...@aol.com wrote: (sorry if this is posted twicereceived an odd confirmation) === does the autograph of the following poster increase or decrease the value? this is an awesome title, signed by better davis with a personalized message. http://www.ebay.com/itm/40s-NOW-VOYAGER-rare-Vintage-Poster-Original-BETTE-DAVIS-Inscribed-Signed-/260972571589?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0hash=item3cc32d6bc5 i do not know the seller. but i do own this one sheet, and would value a good unrestored poster at 600-900 michael Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: lists...@listserv.american.edu In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content. As these go, I don't think that particular title signed by Bette Davis is bad at all. Looks late though, and shaky. Re: [MOPO] continuation: poster values with autographs
in this case I agree with some of what Kerry says, however the real key is this: #1 Bette's autograph isn't big bucks $100 or so depending on factors #2 I can't tell if it's a 1940s vintage autograph or a 1970s autograph (and it makes a difference) so the best you would be looking for is this $300 poster with a $100 autograph = $400 this is not the same as the It Happened One Night tc in Heritage soon with a Frank Capra autograph Capra's autograph is worth less than Bette's about $50, but in that particular combination, the card could be worth a lot more than before if such a card were inscribed To Claudette, it was wonderful working with you on this movie that would increase the item greatly At 02:43 PM 3/6/2012, lovenoir2 wrote: If the autograph cannot be authenticated (not meaning a COA that anyone can create and print), and is a fake, it would bring the poster's value way down.
