[mou-net] ABC study of neonicotinoids birds
Thank you to those of you who support the American Bird Conservancy. I think they do good work, save a lot of habitat, and their publications are very informative (also amazing bird photography). ABC issued a report on these pesticides. They are very toxic to bees, but they are also toxic to birds. One treated seed can kill an adult songbird. If you look at this report (or abc website) you should also find a petition to EPA to prohibit their use. There is a bill in Congress to do that also. http://www.abcbirds.org/newsandreports/releases/130319.html Gordon Andersson St Paul Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
[mou-net] MOU-net guidelines
Hi all - From time to time, it is a good idea to remind those who subscribe to this listservice of its guidelines, so everyone is aware of what types of postings are appropriate. These guidelines can be found at http://moumn.org/listservice.html, and I call your attention especially to the following section: MOU-net is not the place for advertising products or services (unless sponsored or endorsed by the MOU or its affiliates), birding trip reports outside of Minnesota, limited debates between just a few individuals, personal musings and monologues, or surveys about personal experiences. Note especially that subscribers are asked to refrain from postings which include advertising products or services and surveys about personal experiences. As the guidelines go on to say: If these lists lose focus, then they also lose their value. There are other mailing lists available for people interested in other issues. Thanks for your support and your continued participation in MOU-net, and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions or concerns about our policies. - Kim Eckert, on behalf of the MOU Electronic Communications Committee (David Cahlander, chair) Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
[mou-net] Oriole Mania
We have always had orioles in our yard. But, this year we have an abundance of them. Based on the number of juveniles, I think we have at least 3 or 4 families. It's been fun watching the adults bring their young to the grape feeders.
