[mou-net] Cuckoo in Meadowlands Twp. - St. Louis County

2015-05-25 Thread Tanya Beyer
Yesterday ahead of the coming downpour I twice heard a yellow-billed cuckoo
(rain crow) while walking. It may have been the same bird twice, calling
from two different patches of aspen woods. I have never heard it this far
north--in fact I remember it well from childhood pastureland in central
Indiana. Sibley's map shows this bird as an occasionally found species in
our area.

Also a nice variety of northland warblers from along the Whiteface River
including magnolia, parula, black-throated green, Canada, pine and northern
waterthrush.

[mou-net] Tufted Titmouse near Two Harbors, Lake Co.

2015-05-25 Thread Jim Lind
Sharon Lind found a Tufted Titmouse at our feeders today, May 25. We
are at 847 Scenic Drive, a half mile west of the Sonju car dealership
on the west side of Two Harbors. Birders are welcome to look for the
bird, but it seems very skittish and goes long periods between visits
to the feeder. As far as I know this is a first Lake County record,
and one of a handful of northeast MN records.

I posted a photo to Recently Seen page on the MOU website.
