Re: [mou-net] Mountain Bluebird, Ramsey County

2020-11-28 Thread Alyssa DeRubeis
Adding to Warren’s report, I relocated (separately from him, as I did not know
anyone had seen it before I saw it until I read his post) the Mountain Bluebird
at the same northeast pond inthe golf course. This was at 11:25am although I
had been looking since about 10:45am. It still was around when I left at
11:40am. He was loosely associating with a female Eastern Bluebird in trees
along the south side of the pond.

As of yesterday, folks have been having mixed luck with him. Yesterday it was
not seen after about 12:15pm. Apparently someone tried for 90 minutes earlier
this morning and did not see him.

FYI, parking is located on the south side of the golf course. It took me a
while to figure that out.

Good birding!

[mou-net] Battle Creek Grassland at Risk

2020-11-28 Thread JULIAN SELLERS
The city of Maplewood is planning to develop a 77-acre county-owned tract of
(mostly) grassland adjacent to Battle Creek Regional Park in southeastern
Ramsey County. During recent nesting seasons, birders have documented a number
of species on this property that are in steep decline in Minnesota and North
America. The county should adjust the park boundary to include this tract
instead of selling it for development. For more information, and to take
action, go to tinyurl.com/77acres.
