[mou] Carlos Avery today

2008-06-04 Thread W. Phillips Shively
At Carlos Avery this morning there was a flock of 11 dunlins at pool
9, and two ravens in a tree along the road at the northwest corner of
pool 5. The ravens flew off with a wonderful "gronk, gronk, gronk".
Cranes everywhere, including one group of 46 in a wet meadow.

I took a drive through Carlos Avery today, despite the rain and mud I
saw a fair amount of birds. Here are a few of note:

Sandhill Cranes (40 or so, in the recently burned area)
Yellow Warblers
Goldfinch (many)
Blue Winged Teal
Wood Duck
Bald Eagles=20
Numerous other birds I'm not good enough to identify in flight . . .
Yet. :)

And a number of other the usual suspects in CA like Red Winged
Blackbirds, Tree Swallows, and Robins.

Craig

PS I posted a few pics from today's outing on my blog, including the
Yellow Warbler. http://www.craigsbirds.blogspot.com
