Re: Pioneer PX-7 and LD
Is very difficult to find MSX LD software? Yes, with good luck and connections to Japan you may find disks, but they're rare also there. And unfortunately they're also expensive, price varies from 80-120 USD per disk + shipping costs. Bernard tried to find some in the last 3 years and he was only able to buy just one. I do not remember what he paid for it though. But it was not THAT expensive. [EMAIL PROTECTED] said: At http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp I also saw a complete PX-7+LD-8200D (so this LD model also works with PX-7)+2 MSX laser discs auctioned. Japanese people were paying a lot of money for this complete system (I have the pics of the auction). It seems that JVC-Victor also designed a LD MSX system: http:// members.nbci.com/toragiku/kopa/hc90.htm http://members.nbci.com/ toragiku/kopa/hc90_2.jpg http://members.nbci.com/toragiku/kopa/ hc90_3.jpg http://members.nbci.com/toragiku/kopa/hc90_4.jpg http:// members.nbci.com/toragiku/kopa/hc90_5.jpg http://members.nbci.com/ toragiku/kopa/hc90_6.jpg (you can see clearly MSX and MSX2 logo) Please, someone save the pics for me, I have no time right now, and they are nice for FUNet/FAQ. Iwein van Caelenberg does have both Sony MSX2 and LDP-1550. Me too! But i have not tried them yet. And the LDP is NTSC/110 V and still at my brother's place... Grtjs, Manuel PS: MSX 4 EVER! Do you remember which title he got ? Umm... Checking... I think Strike Mission, but i am not sure... Yes, I admit that you may get them cheaper with good luck, but last 2 years I have seen them the price level has been 80-120 USD... In Akihabara they are cheaper I think, but you have to FIND them... And the LDP is NTSC/110 V and still at my brother's place... Ok, and remember that the digitizing of picture may not work before you have NTSC signal converted to PAL... Exactly. It can now only be used to control the LDP with the Sony. THat is it. I think Iwein is getting his NTSC/PAL adapter or making one or something. Grtjs, Manuel PS: MSX 4 EVER! (Questions? Is not possible to duplicate a LD-disk? Like we do with CDs (into CD-R or CD-RW). The companies that produced MSX LD-disks sold more than 1 copy so it may be possible. The worth of LD-RW device was few years ago something like 250 000 GBP and one disk for it about 800 GBP (correct if I'm wrong). So it's quite expensive to make a copy from disk. Laurens Holst wrote: ... The new BIOS v2.0 isn't compatible with the old one already because of the added 24-bit sector access. what you are saying is not correct Programs ignorant about the 23 bit DISKIO access, must set the MediaID (#f0) in register C like usual. So most direct-interface-access programs already don't work. they will work ok because they set the MediaID in C. Why didn't you increase the size of the drive info block at the same time??? 32 bit sector access requires a kind of new MSX standard; probably a new diskromentry. That also means that DOS has to be modified in order to use that new entry. Perhaps that can be done in future when a new DOS3 will be made... if it will be made. As you can imagine, 32bit access is not for tomorrow. But no problem, because I DON'T think that 32bit access is the thing that is most needed in the MSX community. We can better spend our time creating games and utils. Now all direct-access software has to be adapted for version 2.0, not true and once again for version 3.0... It would be easier to do this in one go I think... ~Grauw Jon Problems? contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] See also http://www.faq.msxnet.org/

Laurens Holst wrote: ... don't work. Which program will not work? I don't know exactly. The programs which directly access the IDE-BIOS (v2.0) without clearing the C register... 'old' programs must always set the MediaID in C. If they don't set the C register, these programs are wrong. I think EVAIDE does it. don't think so; EVAIDE uses the new 23bit sector access. ... By the way, IF you (Jon) are going to update the IDE disk variable area, best do it good. It won't be compatible anyway, so I think it's a good idea to use OFFSET +4 +5 +6 +7 (for example) for the 32-bit disk size instead of OFFSET +4 +5 and +8 +9... by making the order '+4 +5 and +8 +9' like you say, you can keep it compatible with current bios1.x and 2.x utilities which use the IDE system variables. I can't see any advantage of using the normal order '+4 +5 +6 +7'. I almost all cases you use the IX/IY registers for reading the variables, so the actual offsetorder doesn't matter... ~Grauw Jon Problems? contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] See also http://www.faq.msxnet.org/

GAUNTLET
Hello world! Roberto Vargas and me have been working on a patched version of Gauntlet that allows playing it with keyboard instead joysticks. It supports keyboard playing for both two players at once. Joystick playing is improved by mapping potions button to the second fire button on the joystick or joypad. PLAYER 1 CONTROL: Movement:CURSORS Fire:SPACE Potions: RETURN PLAYER 2 CONTROL: Movement: E S F X Fire: SHIFT Potions:CTRL The game is Hola gente ! PLAYER 1 CONTROL: Movimiento: CURSORES Disparo: ESPACIO Pocimas: RETURN PLAYER 2 CONTROL: Movimiento: E S F X Disparo:SHIFT Pocimas:CTRL The game is available on http://www.msxlegacy.com, see the DOWNLOAD section.
