Re: [MSX] MSX-Audio BIOS upgrade for Music Module

2005-05-04 Thread Oscar Centelles
Hi!

  I found the error.

In the gif file of the schematic A13 of the erom shows it should not be
  connected! This is wrong!
A13 pin 26 of the 27c256 should be insterted into the eprom socket!

Ops! You're right. I forgot to color the pin when documenting the kit.
 I'll fix this ASAP.

  All is fine now!!

Is 27C256 A13 pin directly connected to EPROM socket and Pin3 of 74LS139?
And, is possible to bypass the BIOS upgradre with a jumper in VCC signal?

Thank you!!

Greetings,

Oscar

Yes.

Humm, if you´re thinking about only disabling the BIOS upgrade itself,
the answer is yes. Even better, you could instead use a switch on the
/CS signal from the EPROM soquet (pin-20).

Anyway, IMHO there´s no advantage of doing this, because disabling the
MSX-Audio BIOS make so much sense as disabling the MSX-Music BIOS on a
FM-PAC cartridge: The BIOS does not interfere with anything, it just
sits there, waiting for you to use it. Much better than the anoying
Philips MusicBox Editor EPROM.

But if you want some way to disable the upgrade and get the Anoying
Philips MusicBox back, then it´s not that simple. To run the MusicBox
Editor after the BIOS upgrade, is easier just load it in RAM using
ExecROM, LoadROM, etc.

FRS

I am making a little board for this bios upgrade and memory upgrade. I hope
not to
burn the Music Module hehe.

Thank you FRS

Expensive? Less than 150 euro! How cheap can it get!
For that price, I would almost want to buy two :).
Its even cheaper than the Nintendo DS, and for that price you get a
small computer which you can fully customize and program for! And you
finally get some new hardware to replace the old that is about to break
down (well...).
