Re: Suggestion for The Ultimate MSX FAQ

2001-04-16 Thread Saku Taipale

Hi (Ivan)

There are a lot of misunderstandigs about NTSC and PAL systems
on MSX system. I suggest to add a section, FAQ or whatever you
want to call it to the MSX FAQ about this topic.

...

-Are there PAL and NTSC versions of MSX cartridges?
-If I want to buy a Pioneer PX-7 to play LD games, which system (PAL or
NTSC) should the PX-7 be compatible with?

I'm right person to tell more about Laserdisc topic... I can tell
more from this for Manuel Bilderbeek, if he is ready to update
FAQ.

...

 What do you think?

Very good idea, indeed.

Greetings: Saku Taipale, [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Suggestion for The Ultimate MSX FAQ

2001-04-14 Thread Ivan Latorre

Hi

There are a lot of misunderstandigs about NTSC and PAL systems
on MSX system. I suggest to add a section, FAQ or whatever you
want to call it to the MSX FAQ about this topic.

What frequently asked questions could this section have?:
-Can I connect my MSX to every TV made?
-Which MSX computers can be used with both PAL/NTSC systems?
-Are there PAL and NTSC versions of MSX cartridges?
-If I want to buy a Pioneer PX-7 to play LD games, which system (PAL or
NTSC)
should the PX-7 be compatible with?
-Which countries where MSX was sold use PAL or NTSC system?
-Can I plug my PAL MSX to a NTSC TV and inversely?
-Can I connect my MSX2+/MSXturboR to a PAL TV which has a SCART
connector with a japanese RGB cable? (Remember that european RGB SCART

TV connectors have a different pin layout in relation to japanese RGB
SCART
  TV connectors).
-etc...

What do you think?

Greets

MSX-faq

2000-10-12 Thread Richard Gerrits

Hello,

I was looking for some info on how to change my emailaddress with msx@stack
and noticed that the section about the mailinglist in the faq is a bit out
of date.

The link MSX MAILINGLIST INFO is dead, probably because Wiebe no longer
maintains the list.

Maybe someone can correct this.

Greetings Richard

PS can somone tell my how to change my address?

The link works just fine for me.

But you're right: we should make an updated web page.

New URL The Ultimate MSX FAQ!

1999-02-10 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek

Hi MSX World!

The Ultimate MSX FAQ is now available from a new URL (thanks to Sean
Young and Ben Goran):

---
http://www.faq.msxnet.org
---

Yep! It's much shorter and easier to recall.
Note: maybe some things go wrong (broken links or whatever). However I
tested it thoroughly, some bugs may still come up. If so, please let me
know a.s.a.p.!

I hope that I can add the sections about SCSI and IDE interfaces soon.

The version on the old URL will be available for some time, but within a
few weeks I'll put a 'moved' message there (that can be either today or
in 2 weeks...!).

Thanks! (And don't forget to update your links!)

How are the pins numbered?

Does anyone have a power-supply and a cable like this?

Release of The Ultimate MSX FAQ!

1999-02-09 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek

Hi MSXers!

The Ultimate MSX FAQ is now released! Note that it's still partly in
development, and that I need/want your comments! So don't hesitate to
mail me or something.

I think every new user (and old user) should (have) read this! Specially
before asking questions in comp.sys.msx!

So please spread the URL! It's:
http://studs.sci.kun.nl:/manuelbi/ultmsxfaq.html

Does it seem familiar to you? That can be correct. The Red Devil started
this FAQ, but now he quit MSX, I've taken it over. It will be more often
updated now, and I think I'm gonna post the URL in comp.sys.msx twice a
month.

Thanks for your visit and comments!

Info for The Ultimate MSX FAQ!

1999-02-09 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek

Hi there!

I'm searching for some info for The Ultimate MSX FAQ! Read the FAQ to
find out what I need. At least I need info about some connectors (I
already got the RGB-Scart connector for the Sony 700), like:
  15 Descriptions of several connectors
   (under construction)
  + 15.1 Cassette connector
  + 15.2 Joystick connector
  + 15.3 Printer connector

I probably have these somewhere (in a book or somehting), but it would
be easier if someone sent me a textfile with the descriptions of these
(and others too, if possible, like the cartridge connector, etc...) This
info was once on the WWW page called "HwB connector menu" or somehting,
but that page dissappeared and I checked the MSX Mailinglist archive
too, but that's almost not do-able (hmm, bad English...)

Further, if you have any other info that could be put in The Ultimate
MSX FAQ: let me know!

Thanks!
