Re: [MSX] Fileformat of a Moonblaster for Moonsound FM-file

I agree with Patriek here,
I don't see the benefits of removing the FST-convertor.

[MSX] Fileformat of a Moonblaster for Moonsound FM-file

2002-08-28 Thread michiel ellen de vries

Hi all,

At the moment I'm working on the part for loading Moonblaster
files in Meridian 2.2. Files in the format of Moonblaster and
Moonblaster for Moonsound Wave won't be any problem, but the
files in the format of Moonblaster for Moonsound FM will.

Does anyone know how such a file is built up? I that case
I will be capable to let Meridian load Moonblaster files
in any format.

Thanx in advance

Gtx
Michiel

PS: I'm considering to rip off the part for loading
FAC Soundtracker files. Are there any users who will have
a problem with that? In case there are not, I'll rip it off.

I would vote against this for a couple of reasons. Namely, FST Pro was also
partly targeted at MIDI, so it's propable someone would want to load old
FST Pro files in Meridian. Second, it would be a loss to the
userfriendlyness and flexibility of Meridian.
It's not possible to convert all FST music to MB in order to load it in
Meridian either, because FST supported more tracks than MoonBlaster.

If you want to rip it off to save some memory, I say Meridian's memory
requirements are already high, so a few kB's more or less doesn't really
make a difference IMO.

Keep up the great work!

 Patriek

At 21:15 7-6-01 +0200, you wrote:
Hi there,

I've got a question regarding Moonblaster for Moonsound Version 1.15

When MBfM starts, and I see the patterntable and the press F3, followed by
selecting 'select waves', I come in the list where I can select the
instruments. With my Music Module, connected to the keyboard (I thought
NMS 1105) I can play these instruments via the pianokeyboard.

You are mixing up two programs here. Even though they are both MoonBlaster
for MoonSound, the version you give is for MBWAVE and your example is about
MBFM (last version 1.03 AFAIK).

Now the question: In the patterntable (the screen where the song is being
produced) I cannot insert notes via the piano! Is there anyone who knows
how to do this anyway?

Now for the answer. 'Realtime' input isn't supported in both versions, so
that is why the Philips keyboard can't be used to input notes. There are
two methods to input a note in MoonBlaster:

1. Type the note you want to play (i.e. C, Shift-3, 5 for C#5) which means
(obviously) play note C# on octave 5 for the channel you enter it in.
2. Play a not by a single key-press. It is similar to the way the Philips
keyboard is used, though you need to do it on the MSX keyboard. The MSX
keyboard covers two octaves which can be selected as well. Q is the C of
one octave, 2 is th C# of that otave. The rest of that octave is positioned
accordingly. The other octave is: Z is C, S is C#, etc.

You can download the manual btw from the Sunrise page on http://www.msx.ch/
