I see. Is there intuition for this being the case? For example, if I
do 'q', it asks if I would like to sync, so I do not see why it is not
suggested to sync without quitting.

Hi all

I'm using mutt with imap connection on courier-imap server.

Sometime I edit a mail the X-Label under mutt for that I'm
using a script editlabel

new one not come. I must exit mutt and re-launch. Maybe I can wait
long-time.  

How can I make the old-one disapear but the new one is in the index very
quickly ?

sync-mailbox / delete question

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to write a macro to remap my $ key to sync my mailbox (and
delete marked emails), and then run an external script.

I've written the below macro, and it works except it doesn't ask me if I'm sure
I want to delete the messages.  Thiisn't a really big deal, but it seems as
thought it still should.  Any ideas?


macro index $ enter-commandset delete=ask-yesenterenter-commandset 
wait_key=noentersync-mailboxshell-escapetest-script.plenterenter-commandset 
wait_key=yesenter

no.  we'd rather not have people lose mails that way.
besides, you can use rm with 'crontab to get
rid of some mail periodically if you wish.  *ehem*

Shouldn't it just be a no-op?

I'm not sure on this one, but what seemed to work for me, was trying
to move the indicator below the last message. This seemd to force a
check. But, again, I don't know this for sure...

  a) send a message to myself
  b) return to my INBOX (which resides on an IMAP server)
  c) wait a while, then press '$' -- nothing happens
  d) quit mutt
  e) start mutt and return to my INBOX -- the message is there

As a test, I try the same thing in Pine:
  a) send a message to myself
  b) return to my INBOX
  c) press Ctrl-L -- the message is there

Is there a configuration option I am missing in Mutt?

syncing doesn't delete anything on it's own...  you have to delete the
message if you expect the sync to remove it from the mailbox.

or am I misunderstanding you?

No, I'm not trying to delete the message.  What I want to do is send a

I also have the same problem. '$' does nothing and I cannot find the sync-mailbox 
command.

This problem only occurs in X-windows, via a terminal or menu. Outside of X it works

You just have to define some macros. For instance :

macro index d delete-messagesync-mailbox delete and sync
macro pager d delete-messagesync-mailbox delete and sync

 real time.

But doing this you'll lose the ability to change your mind and undo
changes. Furthermore, for huge mailboxes (especially if you manipulate
old mails in mbox format), syncing can take a lot of time.

But slight problem, the sync-mailbox command does not work on my Mutt
1.2.5i in the pager - only in the index.  Can check this by going
exec sync-mailbox
sync-mailbox: no such command

And of course this don't win any prizes cause you dont get to read the mail!

reason for wanting this is that I have a kind of an xbiff running
every minute viz.
