Actually, otomo, you referenced the this forum is a mess thread where
people were suggesting moving to a forum with folders.  Your counter
suggestion was to move just the Feature Requests to a service like
Getsatisfaction.  I liked that idea and tried to support it.

Truth is I had thought about making that very same suggestion.  If you
   just
move the Feature Requests you can probably get away with just using the
   FREE

Hey Richard, you said I would strongly support this to a thread that
originally said it would be a good move for MLO to at least move its
   Feature
   Suggestions to a service likewww.getsatisfaction.com.

It has been suggested in the past to move to Uservoice or GetSatisfaction.
That hasn't really gotten anywhere.  This suggestion was to start by just
moving the Feature Suggestions to a service like UV or GS.  I liked that
approach and tried to support it.

Just a thought here.  If you guys want to gain support for your ideas you
might want to NOT argue with the people who are trying to support your
   ideas

I don't think Outlook has a calendar view either for tasks, only for

[MLO] Re: Feature Request: My Business Organised

2010-04-18 Thread Matt Jones
I completely agree. Cannot stand anything made by Microsoft -
Including the (currently only available to MLO) Windows OS's. Bring on
the OSX version.

However, adding a few extra features, such as a timeline view and a
few other tabs in the To Do list view, would not change the software
at all- simply add a few more useful features!

2)The ability to turn a piece of text within a task into a 'link' to

The Notepad should 'pop out' I think too- allowing you to fully

4)Better ToDo Tab- A linear chart or mapper with the text labels
attached for example (as a secondary to do/chart view).  Way too many
To-do tasks in a row for my project (over 900!)-  need to somehow
structure it better so it looks more fragmented/achievable! (like
project software again, without menu after menu and manual reading)

5)More options regarding Folders/Tasks- such as a 'Master Project
Folder' (could be a different colour and larger for example), which
would help to separate the tasks from the projects, and visa versa.
Goals (Aims), Master Project Folder (for say, an entire business
output),  (Projects (Objectives) -The major tasks, and sub tasks
   (Actions) etc.

If anyone is thinking, that man needs Project Management Software

I'd rather not have to learn a new program, or require anything that
complicated. I like the quick, simple element to MLO and the way I
plan my business.  I am not a Project Manager either - I am developing
a Social Enterprise in the Arts and kind of utilising MLO as a way to
get my brain in gear and stay organised, achieving company outlines as
   quickly as I can.

Thank you MLO makers!! - I really hope you give my ideas

[MLO] Re: Feature Request: My Business Organised

2010-04-18 Thread Matt Jones
Hi Richard

I am based in Winchester, UK. Where are you?

Thanks for the reply- Regarding the To Do tab; I agree. A timeline
would do it; (with text annotations) -the point being that you would
not be taking anything away from users- simply offering them more
graphical data and utility., and more useful view(s).

In fact- that Tab Row upon the To Do list looks like another 5-6
useful tabs could go there- So add some simple project management
features! I'd like a dashboard, with timeline and chart builders as a
high priority!, information analysis/review, financial targets tools
etc.

I love the idea of the MLO system analysing and determining for me
what I need to do first, in what order.Brilliant. - bit confused about
where i should be adjusting sliders, or selecting dependancies
appropriately that is slightly inhibiting my experience currently- so
any advice you could give would be great..

Re the Project Management Software- I like your software being easier
to learn than project management software- it looks how my brain
works!

Keep up the good work, thanks for creating it.

Subject: [MLO] Re: getsatisfaction for MLO?

As for example, today, I have 9 new messages !
The 7 first are on the first displayed page (having to look to New
message under each topic), I discovered this one on the 4th page, and
have still to look for the last one !

In french the word to be used for such Google group is brol !

I takes more time to search where the new posts are rather then
 reading them !

I did not suggest moving to a forum with folders

Actually, otomo, you referenced the this forum is a mess thread where
people were suggesting moving to a forum with folders. Your counter
suggestion was to move just the Feature Requests to a service like
Getsatisfaction. I liked that idea and tried to support it.

Truth is I had thought about making that very same suggestion. If you
just
move the Feature Requests you can probably get away with just using the
FREE
service and don't need the extra features that you would have to pay
for...

Hey Richard, you said I would strongly support this to a thread that
originally said it would be a good move for MLO to at least move its
Feature
Suggestions to a service likewww.getsatisfaction.com.

It has been suggested in the past to move to Uservoice or
GetSatisfaction.
That hasn't really gotten anywhere. This suggestion was to start by
just
moving the Feature Suggestions to a service like UV or GS. I liked that
approach and tried to support it.

Just a thought here. If you guys want to gain support for your ideas
you
might want to NOT argue with the people who are trying to support your
ideas

You might want to re-read what I posted under that light... ;-)

OK so I'm not sure why you are arguing with someone that is basically
  agreeing with you.

For the record, my reference about folders was in relationship to the
original post. Basically, concerning this forum is a mess and
people suggesting that MLO move to a forum with folders. I was not
suggesting GetSatisfaction used folders. You might want to re-read
what I posted under that light...

I think you ought to take a closer look at GetSatisfaction because
it
doesn't work in the way you describe - eg there is no concept of
folders -
and it has capabilities which address virtually all of your issues

indeed
if effectively implements your two step idea!

Firstly, it encourages people to start by asking questions and
before
you
can post, it parses the question and looks for threads on the
topics
covered in the question and displays these before you can actually
post.
This works pretty well in my experience so the forum become an
excellent
place for people to ask questions.

Secondly, it appears to have quite a powerful moderation facility
