[MLO] Re: [MLO for Android 2] Fully automatic sync not that automatic?

2015-12-02 Thread Dmitry_N
"Automatic" sync in the MLO2 case means it syncs only when you launch the
program. It doesn't sync anything in the background.

E.g., you have a due task with a reminder. You complete the task on your PC
before the reminder is triggered. But nothing happens on your phone in the
meantime, and you can rest assured that the task won't be completed on your
phone, and you will hear the reminder on the phone until you open the
program and it completes its "automatic" sync afterwards.

Is this what doesn't work for you? :)

The reviews I have read indicate that even with the Windows 8.1 scaling
set to display icons and text at an easy to use size, some older programs
do not work with these settings (eg dialog boxes are very small).

Does anybody have any experience of this?

And does MLO work OK with Windows 8.1. Is there anything I need to know.

 Thanks

I have been receiving this message for months now:

Could not overwrite file. mydocs\myfilename.ml Make sure it is
not read only and mlo has access to it. See attached image.

At first I thought this was because it was stored in dropbox. I have
cloud sync so I removed it from dropbox and any other file syncing folder
but I still get this. I removed the folder from my Carbonite backup program
as well so that there is no conflict.

These messages repeat every few minutes and sometimes I return to the
computer to see a lovely cascading pattern of error boxes.

I wonder if anyone has seen similar behaviour and has a solution they
could share? My workaround is to clear the error messages and quickly save
the file under a different name!

 I have mlo 4.3.1.2445 FINAL and W8.1 64bit

 thank you

Re: [MLO] Unable to import Outlook email (drag and drop) to Inbox

2013-01-23 Thread Dmitry_N
A slightly different thing:

I can't create a link to an email in notes of a task by dragging it onto
the Notes area of the task. What I see in the notes afterwards is:

FromSubjectReceivedSizeCategories
***Re: *16:24 70 KB

If I drag it over to the task name, it creates a subtask (with a working
link to this email in the Notes section, which can be copied/pasted to
another task).
If it's dragged between task names on the list, a neighbor task is created.

I remember that dragging an email to some area inserted a link to this mail
in the notes of a certain task... How do I accomplish this now in MLO4?

Re: [MLO] Templates in MLO

What I do is first export a task as MLO XML and then import it back when
needed.

Please mind you will have to always click on Insert as subtask in the

“CLIENT MEETING TEMPLATE”, Which is a project that has the generic tasks I
need to set up a client meeting

“ANALYST MEETING TEMPLATE”, which is a project with tasks specific to a

What I do when I have, say, an actual client meeting is “duplicate” the

What I mean is that, if the filter for the start date is set as from:

But! If the filter for the start date is set as from: undated to

[MLO] Weekly Planning Dependencies

2010-09-15 Thread Dmitry_N
Hi all,

I seem to be puzzled over some tricky thing.

Example: I need to plan payments for next week. This I can easily do.
But before I need to go on a long business trip, I need to make this
plan for 2 or three weeks.

So, the tricky thing is that some of the tasks that I know have to be
on the list are hidden because their dependencies are incomplete yet.

What I managed to dig and give it a try was add a rule for the To-Do
in Advanced called HasIncompleteDependency and setting it to
true, which didn't seem to work. To-Do list was just absolutely
blank, no matter which dates I tried to set for the task to appear on
the list.
Although I do have a lot of tasks with incomplete dependencies.

Anyone? Please help!

Thanks in advance.

When adding a new subtask to a parent task, the new subtask appears at
the top of the subtasks, instead of at the bottom. To me, the expected
behavior is that it would appear at the bottom.

This follows that if I am adding a list of items to be done, I would
be adding them in order and they should appear in that order from top-
  to-bottom.

Can anyone else see a reason for doing it the way it is? With new
subtask items appearing at the top?

Hi Andrey,
1.
In version 2.X, if I am not mistaken, there was the Import item on

I often use templates for my regular tasks/projects, which are
actually stored as xml files, and, in order to import a template, I
have to go to the menu and select Import, which is kind of not very
comfortable.

2.
Option to import the selected xml template as a subtask of the
selected task is not saved. By default, Insert to the root of the
outline is selected. Possible to change this behavior?

When you tap on the date box, the window just closes, but the process

If you then tap on Set, this selection dialog closes.
RTE process is still in memory (hidden window).

[MLO] [BUG]: Rapid Task Entry on HD2 (WM 6.5)

MLO Rapid Task Entry.
If you open the date selection dialog on HD2 (HTC replaced WM date and
time selection dialogs here for their own nicely looking ones), then
you can only see top left part of the dialog, which is about twice
normal size.
Then Rapid Task Entry closes, and you cannot open it again, as the
process stays in memory.

[MLO] Re: MLO 3.5.0 Beta Release

2010-01-27 Thread Dmitry_N
Damn!

feature: Dependency: Copy/Paste/Duplicate, Import/Export to XML, stored in
 templates on desktop.
change: groups in to-do are now counting number of total subtasks but not
 number of subgroups

These are awesome features!!! At least for me :)

Andrey, not sure whether to call it a bug or not (it was present in
3.0.1, not sure if it is in 3.5).
When the reminder window pops up, you click the task name that appears
on the reminder list, then you are redirected to Outline. You complete
the task, and then MLO minimizes immediately.
If you then open MLO again, you see Outline rather than To-Do.
Is it possible not to minimize the window after completing the task?

A small glitch: Context menu of a task has Advanced / Replaces
contexts in all subtasks. Must be Replace contexts in all subtasks

[MLO] Re: Feature Request: Due dates automatically set through dependencies

2009-11-24 Thread Dmitry_N
You don't need to set a dependency here. Actually, it's the wrong
approach.
The date on which you have to return the book doesn't depend on
whether you've done with the book or not, correct? :)
You just have to create 2 independent tasks but you will see Return
the book only on it's due date. Read the book will always be on the
list though.

Project: Book.
Task 1: Read the Book: daily at HH:MM
Sub-task 1: Return the Book if finished: no due date, but
dependent on Task 1.
Task 2: Return the Book latest: due date on DD:MM

in the dependency would dictate the due date of all the tasks
depending on it, but MLO doesn't appear to agree.

Would it be possible for tasks leading to tasks with due dates to
inherit that final task's due date?

 Enjoying the product very much!

[MLO] Re: MLO-PocketPC ver. 2.5.2 - hotfix

OK, I see but:
1. I always install MLO to main memory.
2. If the file is on the card, then the freezing/neverending sync
problem happens (yes, it is in the \Storage Card\My Documents\ folder.
Root of it. If the file is in the main memory, everything is ok. This
isn't the first device and 1st memory card that I've been able to
repro this issue with :)

About using Storage Card: MLO can be set up to either main memory or
to a storage card. However, certain newer devices would not allow it
to sync if the application is installed on a card. It depends on the
settings of your mobile provider. The data file can be on a memory
card or in the main memory. The only limitation is that it must be
inside a My Documents folder. If you still have problems with sync
your data file located in Storage Card - try to move it to main
memory. In some cases damaged cards caused  sync problems.

me too long to go into the dependencies box, click open the list,
scroll to the action, etc. What I'd love is to be able to do this by
  drag drop.

I can see this working in two possible ways:
  1. by allowing you to drag a task with the shift-key held down and
drop it on another task to show that the task you have dragged is a
dependencies for the one that you dropped it on to (instead of moving
  it)
  2. have a button in the Dependencies panel that pops open a new dialog
box as a collector for the currently highlighted task. This would
allow you to move the cursor to other tasks and drag them into the
  collector dialog.

This would help in using dependencies better - which would make MLO
more powerful for project management (if changes to the due-dates in
dependent tasks triggered an alert in the subsequent task) , and
increase focus in the To-Do list (automatically hiding the tasks you
can't do anything about without having to select the 'complete
subtasks in order' for the whole branch).

Any others think this would help them?

[MLO] Re: Feature Request: Color Code by Context Not Inherit Parent Context

2009-03-02 Thread Dmitry_N

+1!

I have my To-Do List set up so that it is gouped by contexts.
It is a bit hard to distinguish things now. I would really like it if
contexts could be colored. And if their fonts could be changed too.

On Mar 2, 2:45 pm, neilh m...@neilhowlin.com wrote:
 Hi Andrey,
I love your program. I have been using GTD for years, but never really
got beyond simple context lists in Outlook because all the ways of
handling projects were inelegant. Not surprisingly, I love working in
MLO because I can organise my projects, list out the next tasks and
then switch to 'actions by context' view.

You mentioned in another post rules for colour coding - please can
these include colour coding by context.

I am trying to work with a hierarchical structure for my projects. At
the top level, I have focus  areas (in GTD called 20k focus areas, or
'roles' in Covey method). Each of these has projects (which may
include sub-projects). It's very useful having the colour coding for
projects, and I have now used custom formatting in 2.5.0 to colour my
focus areas, which helps me - but being lazy I would like to be able
to create a rule for these to be automatically colored when I select
 their context.

A second feature request is: could you add an option to turn off
automatically inheriting the 'context' of the parent in outline view.
I guess this made perfect sense when the contexts were places, but now
I have projects which have lots of actions, all of which have
different contexts. Each time I create an action, I have to remember
to turn off the parent context. It would be great if I could set the
default behaviour to not automatically inherit this.

Thanks and keep up the good work! I'm introducing as many people as
will listen to me to your program.

 cheers
 Neil

[MLO] FR: Due Date Based on Completion Date of Other Task + XX Days

2009-03-01 Thread Dmitry_N

I don't know... maybe it's just me, but I very often need to set a due

Task2: Payment needs to be done within 90 days after goods have been
shipped.

Now I have to set the date for Task 2 manually. It would be a dream
