Re: [MLO] MLO on Windows Tablets?

2015-07-09 Thread Robert F
Hi Michael

With a Note 10.1 you must be using the current Android version. Have you
found this to be sufficient to manage complex demands ? If yes, perhaps
you can share your workflow. Personally, I struggle with the Android
version and sometimes carry an IPad or iPhone (wifi w/out cell service)
just to use the IOS version. My core activity with MLO is on the Windows
platform.

Came to this thread because I'm also considering a windows tablet primarily
because I like MLO to be the center of my universe and it's difficult to do
so on Android which is my primary portable platform (Note4 phone and Note
10.1 2014 tablet).

A bit of rambling above because I'm in a rush. Hope it makes sense.

RE: [MLO] MLO on Windows Tablets?

2015-06-12 Thread 'Michael Emerald, CFA' via MyLifeOrganized
I use MLO on a Samsung Note 10.1 and find it to be fine. It’s not my main
workhorse, though, because it doesn’t have auto-refresh. Meaning, if I do 8
hours of work in MLO, never does it update itself to show me tasks that have
become critical at a certain time. This is only pertinent if you use time in
your tasks; otherwise, it is fine.

I know this is somewhat off-topic, but I'm considering getting a Windows
Tablet. Maybe a Surface or something I don't know. Is anyone using MLO on a
WinTablet? How is your experience? Any pitfalls I should avoid? There's
quite a price range for the tablets... Like anything from 70 USD to 1,800 USD!
Based on Amazon reviews it looks like the "Windows RT" devices can NOT install
third-party apps, but instead can only install apps from the "Windows Store."
Also, most of the reasonably priced ones have only 1Gig of RAM. Is that enough
to run MLO, as well as having Outlook open? Also, can I use my Windows copy
of MLO, or am I looking at another purchase?

My current device is a Kindle Fire HD 7. I'll probably x-post this on a couple
different forums. Thanks All.

Re: [MLO] MLO on Windows Tablets?

2015-06-11 Thread Dwight
Hi, Steve. I don’t know much but I'll tell you what I know.

1. There are two types of Windows software, the kind designed for phones and
the kind designed for desktops. Some tablets run just the phone version (I
assume that's the RT you mentioned) and some run both, switching between them.

2. There is not currently a version of MLO designed to run on Windows Phone
(rt?). There have been a number of requests, no response so far.

3. The desktop version of MLO *should* work well on the desktop version of
Windows. *theoretically*. - I would want to see a demo before spending any
money.

4. All of the above applies to Windows 8. MS has announced Windows 10 available
next month. Windows 10 tablets should follow soon after. You might want to wait
and see what emerges

5. Rumor has it that a future version of Windows will allow you to load android
or apple apps to your phone. Again, loading is not the same thing as running
well.
