1. On solaris, make sure you have the SSL libraries installed if you are
going to use SSL. Solaris does not seem to have these by default.

2. If you disable SSL, you need to do it on the client as well. So,
your inetd definition uses -n to disable SSL, and you must also give the
-n option to the check_nrpe to disable SSL there as well.

Steve

If I use -t with check_nrpe and increase the time it gives me-

Could not complete ssl handshake.

I am sunning nrpe under inetd and have disabled ssl.

Is there is a way to do this using superkaraba or some scritps?

 Hi Dominik, hi list!

 Hmmm, this is surely not what you're looking for, but did you have a look
 at the nagios-checker plugin for FireFox?
 https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/3607

 it checks your nagios and alerts you optically and also with sound in case
 of failures... it also takes you to your nagios with a single simple
 click...

Hi Chrisitan,

I already have this plugin:) but this mean that I have to keep firefox open.

All I need is a kind of applet,widget,dashboard or whatever:) on my KDE
desktop backround.

I'm trying now Gnome Nagios Applet:

I recently downloaded the NSClient++ plugin so that I could monitor my NT
servers using Nagios.

In the instructions ( http://trac.nakednuns.org/nscp/wiki/Documentation
http://trac.nakednuns.org/nscp/wiki/Documentation), it says to install it
via the command line (nsclient++.exe /install). I do that, it says that
it's finished, so I'm assuming that the NSC.ini file I have to edit is the
one I have in my c:\temp\ dir.

Any suggestions on where the best place to put this is on a Windows server?

 Hello!

 I found a problem with nagiosgraph but I am not sure whether this should
 be fixed in nagios or nagiosgraph.

 My perfdata-config looks like:

  process_performance_data=1
  service_perfdata_command=process-service-perfdata
  service_perfdata_file=/var/nagios/service-perfdata

 service_perfdata_file_template=$LASTSERVICECHECK$||$HOSTNAME$||$SERVICEDESC$||$SERVICEOUTPUT$||$SERVICEPERFDATA$
  service_perfdata_file_mode=a
  service_perfdata_file_processing_interval=30

 process-service-perfdata only runs insert.pl which renames the log and
 unlinks it after processing. But after this, nagios does not write any
 perfdata anymore. /var/nagios/service-perfdata is gone until the next
 restart of nagios.

 I am using both software under Solaris10/x86.

Which version of Nagios are you running?

What are your perfdata_file settings in Nagios.cfg?

 You are right!!

 Really I'm working with groundwork open source, that comes with
nagios
 2.5, I want to migrate to another version of groundwork that has
the
 same nagios 2.5 embeded, because I want to migrate the
nagioscomment.log
 and trends graphs, I think that this list is the best place to find a
 solution.

The groundwork support lists are probably going to be your best bet but
for a normal nagios installation, you simply need to copy over the
comment log file (comment_file in nagios.cfg), nagios log (log_file in
nagios.cfg) and the contents of the archive directory (log_archive_path
in nagios.cfg).

 What i want to do:
 I have a service. When it fails i would like to check the ste of a

 The important part is that i want the 2nd service to be checked after the

 Serviceescalation are a workaround, but they dont force a check
 of the 2nd service when the first one fails.

 Also, the first two notifications cant be escalated according to
 manual. Is any other way to handle them?

Use an eventhandler and submit a SCHEDULE_SVC_CHECK through the external
command interface on a non-OK state.

If you only want an alert if both fail, you'll probably still want a
dependency to handle that.

I'm not sure what you mean with your last sentence. You can escalate
whenever you want.

   However, when the parent machine goes down, all the VMs (for
 obvious
   reasons) send out a Oh Noes! message as well. This is not
wanted.

  Shouldn't happen if your host checks work properly and you have the
  parents directive properly set up to match your environment.

 To be more specific, when a border-router or similar goes down,
 unreachable notifications are sent out for a number of connected
 machines, vms and so forth; which is pretty obvious imo... This seems
 to
 be the main issue DOWNs leading to UNREACHABLES.

If you don't want the UNREACHABLE alerts, just disable them.
