[Nagios-users] Notifications if a servicegroup is down on more than 1 server

2008-11-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hi,

I have a strange
configuration that I have to applied to my Nagios and I cannot find the way to
do it.

Since I
have a load balancer that monitor the apache status on the servers, I don’t
want to send alerts if one of then is DOWN, I prefer to wait until I have at
least 2 of them DOWN and specific services on them.

For
example: I have 5 hosts with 5 services each.

I want to send
notifications of Critical if:
  --- Service 1, Service 2, and Service 3 are
DOWN on at least 2 of the 5 hosts.

Someone
knows if it is possible and how to apply it on Nagios 2?

Thanks,

Charly

[Nagios-users] Database based nagios configuration

2008-09-27 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hello List,

we are a little ISP and we have currently nagio3 with normal config files.

Now we would like to automake some tasks such as adding/cloning/copying
a host or something.

Is there a way to use a (mysql) database as configuration source? Then
we could code some GUI which will cover our main tasks and scripts :)

Thanks,
Mario

[Nagios-users] disable event handlers during scheduled downtime

2008-06-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hi,

I set up Nagios with event handlers to restart an application in case it fails,
when I have to do a maintenance of it, I schedule downtime, but when I start
working on the maintenance, Nagios restarts it and does not let me work, so,
what I'm doing now, is stopping Nagios, but I know that it is not the best
solution.

I can disable the event handler every time that I have maintenace window, but I
have around 100 services on it and to disable one by one takes forever.

Someone knows if there is any other possibility to do disable event handlers
during schedule downtime?

Thanks,

Charly

As your logserver database has grown it takes longer to do a query against
 it.

This means that the query now takes a sufficiently long time for the test to
timeout. What you need to do is:

 1. Switch the check to being a passive check (as per my recommendation in
the documentation on the NagiosExchange page), otherwise you'd have to
increase the nagios global check timeout which affects all plugins and is
 not my preferred solution.
 2. Increase the timeout on the plugin if necessary using the -t switch.

Re: [Nagios-users] how to escape special characters checking a windows service

Try adding mssql$waspdb in your resource.cfg as a user variable then
substitute it in your server.cfg.

This works when running from the command line:

  /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nt -H xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -p 1248 -v
  SERVICESTATE -l 'mssql$waspdb'
  All services are running

But this doesn't in the servers.cfg It adds the second $.

  check_command /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nt -H
  xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -p 1248 -v SERVICESTATE -l 'mssql$waspdb'

  It adds the second $.

  mssql$waspdb$: Unknown

I've got other services working correctly with embedded spaces. Special
characters are causing trouble. I've tried escaping with \, all sort of
  quote combinations.
  Any ideas?

  thanks, jan

Which flavour of linux are you using? If you are using Debian (or
Debian derivatives), you will probably need to install libssl-dev
before you can recompile correctly, just having ssl installed is not
enough.

I want to log nagios to syslog using a specific local (example LOCAL7)
I didn't find any options in nagios.cfg to do such a thing.
Is anyone know how to do it ?
By default , logs arrive in /val/log/messages file .

[Nagios-users] event_handler with Nagios 3 beta ?

2007-08-10 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hello

Did anyone succeded in implementing event_handler for services with the
new Nagios 3 version ?
I tried to use them but It didn't work
So I tried the example in nagios 3 documentation (http-restart) but It
didn't work too.
Maybe I made something wrong because I didn't see anything in
nagios.log referring EVENT handler

parts of conf :

nagios.cfg
--
= log events , but I don't know where
log_event_handlers=1

=I comment it because I wanted specific handler for each services
#global_host_event_handler=somecommand
#global_service_event_handler=somecommand

= dont think it's the problem :
event_handler_timeout=30

=enable event handlers
enable_event_handlers=1

commands.cfg

[Nagios-users] Nagiograph issues

2007-07-23 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hi All,

I've been trying to get nagiosgraph up and running. I've fixed most of the
issues I've come across. However the problem I can't seem to solve is why
the rrd files aren't being generated. When I follow the link to the extended
data for the service I get an error that the rrd dir is empty. In looking
through the file system this is correct.

Looking through nagios.log shows that data is being collected.
Looking through the service-perfdata file shows data is being collected.
As is host-perfdata
The nagiosgraph.log file is empty.

Sorry I don't have more info than that. Any direction and help would be
greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Bill

[Nagios-users] Check by ssh doesn't work with web user interface

2007-06-29 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi
mailing list,

My
issue is the following:

I'm
trying to check the disk partition (/home)on AIX Plateform with the
plugin check_by_ssh.
First
of all, It's working whenI execute the command in cli with the user
nagios :

Nagios:/var/log/nagios/.ssh#
sudo -u nagios /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_by_ssh -l ssh -H
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -C '/home/ssh/check_disk -p /home -c 80 -w 90'
DISK OK - [155888 kB (76%) free on /dev/vg00/lvol3]

Butwith
the user interface, I have the following response: "not output" and
with"tcpdump" and "ps" commands, It seems that nagios doesn't execute
the plugin.

Any
Idea ?

Thank
you by advance.

[Nagios-users-br] Envio de SMS

2006-09-19 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

ajudasse, resolvi me inscrever nesta lista.

vitual. A idéia é ficarmos independentes do hardware, assim se
hardware apresentar problemas, podemos iniciar a máquina virtual do

Vou colocar primeiro as configurações e

# 'notify-by-sms' command definition
define command{
command_namenotify-by-sms
command_line$USER1$/check_nrpe -H 10.0.1.1 -c
sendsms_service -a $CONTACTPAGER$ $HOSTNAME$ $SERVICEDESC$
$SERVICESTATE$ $SERVICEOUTPUT$
}

# 'host-notify-by-sms' command definition
define command{
command_namehost-notify-by-sms
command_line$USER1$/check_nrpe -H 10.0.1.1 -c
sendsms_host -a $CONTACTPAGER$ $HOSTNAME$ $HOSTSTATE$ $HOSTOUTPUT$
$SHORTDATETIME$
}

nrpe.cfg (da maquina host)

command[sendsms_service]=echo Host: $ARG2$, $ARG3$\nState:
$ARG4$\nInfo: $ARG5$ | /usr/local/nagios/bin/sendsms.pl --recipient
$ARG1$
command[sendsms_host]=echo Host: $ARG2$ is $ARG3$\nInfo:
$ARG4$\nTime: $ARG5$ | /usr/local/nagios/bin/sendsms.pl --recipient
$ARG1$

No SMS a mensagem
aparece somente assim: IISADMIN:. O que vem depois do espaço não
aparece.

Alguém pode me ajudar?

Oscar

How about the nagios.cmd file? Is it there?

Are the permissions set so that the webserver user can get to it?

2006-05-29 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

minha rede.

Dai tenho um serviço criado assim:

define service{
use generic-service
hostgroup_name allhosts
service_description APACHE
max_check_attempts 2
normal_check_interval 5
retry_check_interval 1
check_command check_tcp!80
}

Nao tenho nenhum contact_group definido, pois espero que o Nagios pegue
a lista de contatos do arquivo hostgroups.

contact_groups?? Se for assim, vai ser complicado !! Pq tenho muitos
serviços definidos para allhosts

Re: [Nagios-users-br] Wiki

2006-05-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
quem quiser ver..

[Nagios-users] Nagios with MySQL??

2006-05-19 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello,

Is it true that Nagios 2.* doesn't support MySQL anymore?
I would like to set up Nagios and have it store its status and possibly
it's configuration in a database (and read its config from the database).
Is this still possible, or can anyone recommand a plugin or add-on which
works pretty good?

Thanks in advance!

-Jeffrey

 hey friends,

I have configured Nagios on my Linux Box (Centos 4.0) now I
want to monitor the other linux windows hosts. I downloaded
the nsclient++ for windows but there is no readme or install
guide that tells how to configure nsclient++. The version I
 downloaded is 2.5i2.

Can anybody guide me how to configure nsclient++ on
 windows2003, windows xp and windows 2000 ?

Re: Res:[Nagios-users-br] snmp x nagios plugins

2006-03-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Valeu Evaldo,

cliente (no caso, o servidor nagios) faz queries (snmp-get) à base
de dados do agente (servidor, roteador etc). O dispositivo responde
A maior dificuldade é entender exatamente quais valores você quer
 dispositivo.

Espero que pra começar tenha ajudado.

 Abraço

Assunto: [Nagios-users-br] snmp x nagios plugins

 a maioria
das pessoas utilizam checagens via snmp.
Eu estou usando os próprios plugins do Nagios e alguns outros
 plugins
 melhor
usa-lo? Se for o caso, vocês poderiam me dar algumas dicas de
 como usar
o snmp no lugar dos plugins do Nagios?

Gostaria da opinião de voces... Desde já agradeço!
