[Nagios-users] Monitor CRC errors

2008-03-04 Thread Danilo Perdomo
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has a plugin that works with Nagios to monitor
the CRC errors on
Cisco routers (7600, 7200) interfaces and sub-ifs and maybe the same
with Switches.
I have Nagios 2.7 up and running.

Thanks for the help.

Has anyone used the plugin? any help?

The output in Nagios:

Looks like your Sybase database isn't allowing connections from your

it other than to verify that Sybase is listening for connections from
other hosts and that your monitoring machine is allowed to connect to
the database.

I presume that x.x.x.x here matches x.x.x.x above.

Here are some things you should check in order to resolve this error:

 1. Verify configuration options using the -v command-line option to check for

 2. Check the Nagios log file for messages relating to startup or status data
 errors.
 3. Make sure you've compiled the main program and the CGIs to use the same
object data storage options (i.e. default text file or template-based file).

[Nagios-users] check_sybase

2007-07-31 Thread Danilo Perdomo
Hi all! I'm triying to use this plugin for checking a remote Sybase
database. The thing is that in the usage of the script
i dont see any option that indicates the IP address of the server. Here
is the -h for the plugin:

Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too.
-U, --userUsername to connect to database.
-P, --passPassword to connect to database.
-S, --dbsvr Database server (as in the interfaces file).
-D, --dbname Database name to check.
--config=FILE Config file (see SECURITY below)
--checktype=TYPE Type of check to run (see TYPEs below)
--charset=CHARSET Character set of server (default iso_1).
--explain Explains how we calculated the free space.
--fallbackFallback to a CONNECT check if a non-CONNECT check
takes too long.
--no-mixed-devices-warningSuppress the warning about mixed data/log
devices.
-w, --warning Warning threshold (default 25).
  -c, --criticalCritical threshold (default 10).
-t, --timeout Timeout value, in seconds (default 30).
  -h, --helpThis help message
  -V, --version Version information (1.0)

Examples:
check_sybase -U sa -P secret -S bigbox -D orders
check_sybase --config=/secure/nagios-sybase.cfg --checktype=CONNECT

TYPEs
There are three types of checks you can run:
 --checktype=CONNECT
Checks just the connection to the database.
 --checktype=FREESPACE
(Default) Checks both the connection to the database and the free space.
With this check type, both warning and critical thresholds are in
percent.
Warning defaults to 25% free space, critical defaults to 10% free space.
 --checktype=NUMLOGINS
Checks the number of logins connected to the database server.
With this check type, the warning and critical thresholds are integers.

SECURITY - Using a config file
Since a ps ax will reveal your database username and password, you can
instead specify them in a config file. Pass the config file with --config.
The format of the file is:
   USER value
   PASS value
You can also specify a DBSVR and DBNAME in the file. Comments (#) and blank
lines are ignored. Use whitespace to separate argument and value. The file
should be readable by as few people as possible.

The error indicates that the user you've configured nagios to run as, usually
nagios, does not have permission to write to the directory you've configured to
hold the external command file (/usr/local/nagios/var/rw/). You'll need to --

- verify the directory you've specified exists and is owned by the nagios user
- the nagios user can create files within that directory
- if the file exists and isn't owned by the nagios user, stop nagios, remove
it, restart nagios.
- if the file exists and nagios isn't running, remove it then restart nagios

[Nagios-users] Problems with service check

2007-05-08 Thread Danilo Perdomo
Hi all! I'm having a problem with a service check. The thing is that
the variable that i want to monitor
decreases instead of increasing, the variable is the battery backup time
of an UPS. The normal value
should be 20 minutes of backup, but i want the Nagios to send me a
warning when the value decreases
to 15 minutes, and a critical when it goes down to 10. I understand that
the check_snmp command
only checks increasing values when you set the threshold. How can i do
to check decreasing values??
Hope you can help me, thanks in advanced!

[Nagios-users] Nagios Notifications

2006-12-14 Thread Danilo Perdomo
Hi People, i have a litte problem with the notifications of my Nagios 2.5.
For example :
# 'check_nt_cpu' command definition
define command{
command_namecheck_nt_cpu
command_line$USER1$/check_nt -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -p 1248 -v
CPULOAD -l 15,90,98
}
When the notification arrives, in the additional info field i get
information about the Ping instead of the CPU Load
of the host, this happens when i'm checking disk, memory and others.
I'd appreciate any help, thanks in advanced.

Make certain that you are using the correct macros. I strongly suspect
that you are not. Otherwise, please post the notification command in its
entirety so that we can comment on it.

Follow the _other_ recommendation in my original response. It's very
straightforward. I'm sure you can figure it out in less than 5 minutes
and you'll learn something important about the program you are using.
Please try to help yourself *before* asking someone to do your work for
 you.

Yes, I am definitely of the 'Teach a man to fish... crowd.

I'm sorry Marc, Im from Venezuela and my english is not that good, maybe
i missunderstood
your recomendation, i thought you were asking for the command definition
that i posted before.
This is the first time im working with Nagios, someone was in charge of
all the monitoring before
me.

Only if you were using the right $MACROS$. You are not. Your datetime
and output macros are wrong for nagios 2.5. Follow the link I gave for
 the correct ones to use.

Even better reason to have a look at the documentation ;)
