RE: [Nagios-users] Strange situation..
Does your nagios user have read permissions to your Invio_Rice.log? -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Marco Borsani Sent: Thursday, March 16, 2006 10:30 AM To: 'NAGIOS' Subject: [Nagios-users] Strange situation.. Importance: High Hi all! I prepare a very simple check (called check_fax) that read a text file. If check_fax find an OK it will return a status 0, if check_fax find a CRITICAL it will return a status 2. Well, when I run manually check_fax (like nagios user or root user) it work correctly (returns 0), but when Nagios run check_fax, it returns a status 2. I try to modify check_fax permissions like: -rwxr-xr-x 1 root sys654 Mar 16 09:42 check_fax -rwxr-xr-x 1 nagios nagios 654 Mar 16 09:42 check_fax But nothing has been changed. Here it is the check_fax: -- #!/bin/csh # set dir2 = /tmp set STATUS = `cat $dir2/Invio_Rice.log | grep -c OK` if ( $STATUS == 1 ) then echo FAX OK - Invio e ricezione di prova avvenuto $dir2/Rice.log echo FAX OK - Invio e ricezione di prova avvenuto else echo FAX CRITICAL - Invio e ricezione di prova NON avvenuto $dir2/Rice.log echo FAX CRITICAL - Invio e ricezione di prova NON avvenuto exit 2 endif exit 0 -- -- Any idea? AW: [Nagios-users] Fruity, nag2web, or NagiosWeb??
Hello Terry, i had the same question two or three month ago :-)) and then did some tests and finally decided to use fruity. it's now in RC1-state and it works very well here. RE: [Nagios-users] web-based configuration interfaces for nagios
Hi James, have you had a look at fruity? This is what i'm using and i'm really happy with it!!! you'll find it at http://fruity.sourceforge.net Chris -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of James Fidell Sent: Friday, February 24, 2006 11:46 AM To: nagios-users@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: [Nagios-users] web-based configuration interfaces for nagios I'm current migrating a nagios system I originally set up over three years ago to a new server with the latest version of nagios. The current system has around 140 host entries and is running over 1000 service checks and is linked with apan for graphing performance data. What I'd *like* is to have a web-based interface for adding hosts to the new system with a sort of inheritance-based system for templating so that I can create objects along the lines of: A is a basic server with a set of service checks that apply a set of dependencies between service checks a set of external links to apan (or some other graphing tool) B is a server of type A in datacentre 1 inheriting all of the configuration for A plus an additional set of service checks plus an additional set of dependencies etc... C is a server of type B that is a webserver inheriting all of the configuration for B plus an additional set of service checks plus an additional set of dependencies etc... X is an instance of server type C inheriting all of the configation for C plus some host-specific config. Y is an instance of server type C inheriting all of the configation for C plus some host-specific config. Do any of the existing web-based configuration tools support this sort of system? Are there any in active development that come close and might be modified to suit? (Language is mostly irrelevant -- perl, PHP, C(++), Java, python -- if I can't already code in it, I'll learn, though I might draw the line at VB :)) James --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media. RE: [Nagios-users] Considering nagmin
Hi Toto, if you plan to switch over to Nagios 2.x i would suggest to use "fruity" (fruity.sourceforge.net). It only supports Nagios 2 but you could prepare your configuration for Nagios 2, install Nagios 2 and then switch over to it (this is what i did this week...) You might check to see if 1.3introduced any new configuration settings but I doubt it.Nagmin uses MySql to store the nagios configuration that it uses to createthe various nagios config files.Nagios does not need to be compiled or run with mysql support.Going forward though, Nagmin does not support the Nagios 2.x format and isno longer being maintained last time I checked.Toby[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote on 02/01/2006 05:14:26 AM: Hi all, I am interesting in Nagmin installation upon Nagios 1.3 Official doc talks about nagios v1.1, does anyone got nagmin working fine with nagios1.3 ? Besides i am not using mysql support in nagios right now. Will i loose a lot of nagmin's features ? Is it obviously possible to recompile my nagios install to enable mysql support and integration ? RE: [Nagios-users] pNSClient on a Windows 2003 Server
Hi Kai, i had the same problem here on one of my W2k3 systems and i switched over to pNSClient++ and it works fine Christian -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kai Reese Sent: Monday, January 30, 2006 9:10 AM To: Nagios Users Mailing List Subject: [Nagios-users] pNSClient on a Windows 2003 Server Hey everyone. I'm having a problem with pNSClient on a Windows 2003 Server. I'm quite aware of the fact that there is only mentioning of 2000 and XP hosts to run the service on in the documentation, however, I managed to get it running on 1 2003 host (german language) but not on another (2003 english with multi-user-interface set to german). It seems to install the service fine, but whn I try to start it, the process is aborted and the application event log shows this entry (Sorry it's in german..) Fehlgeschlagene Anwendung pNSClient.exe, Version 2.0.1.0, fehlgeschlagenes Modul unknown, Version 0.0.0.0, Fehleradresse 0x008423f5. Weitere Informationen über die Hilfe- und Supportdienste erhalten Sie unter http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. I don't seem to find any hint on which counter.defs definition it tries to apply, and I'm guessing it has to do with the MUI, but would anyone have a suggestion on how to resolve this? Or are there other plugins for 2003 servers that I missed looking for a windows nrpe-client? Kai --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Do you grep through log files for problems? Stop!
