[Nagios-users] Email alert to contain ack url
Hi all, I'm looking to place an ack url in my email alert but not quite sure where do add the line, could one of your Nagions point me in the correct direction. Below is my mail alert. /usr/bin/printf "%b" "Alert\n\nNotification Type: $NOTIFICATIONTYPE$\n\nService: $SERVICEDESC$\nHost: $HOSTALIAS$\nAddress: $HOSTADDRESS$\nState: $SERVICESTATE$\n\nDate/Time: $LONGDATETIME$\n\nAdditional Info:\n\n$SERVICEOUTPUT$" | /usr/bin/mailx -s " $NOTIFICATIONTYPE$ alert - $HOSTALIAS$/$SERVICEDESC$ is $SERVICESTATE$ " $CONTACTEMAIL$ and as far as I'm aware the next line has to be inserted but I'm unsure where at this present time, tried a few places but it fails, well not it but "I" http://your.nagios.host/cgi-bin/cmd.cgi?cmd_typ=34&host=$HOSTNAME$&service=$SERVICEDESC$ Thanks Group, now back to work I guess. [Nagios-users] Understanding Check Load
Hi Group, I hope you can give me a better understanding of the check_load command as I'm unsure what my settings should be aligned to, if you take a look at the below command line I get Warning and Critical alerts all the time and I'm not sure what to alter the figure to as I do not understand them at the minute. command[check_load]=/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_load -w 15,10,5 -c 30,25,20 The above line give: WARNING - load average: 3.99, 4.56, 7.60 Looking at the warning and given the fact that the server guys says that his server is running OK, what would be the ideal -w and -c be to use. I will try and read up on the above but just looking for help now on this one server. Many thanks Craig -- Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial. Re: [Nagios-users] Alerts, Escalation and Alert Counts
Fantastic Steve, this has given me a massive understand of how escalations work, many thanks. --- Original Message --- >From: Stephen Bader[mailto:sba...@comcast.net] Sent: 13/08/2009 16:43:09 To : cr...@hooters-uk.com Cc : nagios-users@lists.sourceforge.net Subject : RE: Re: [Nagios-users] Alerts, Escalation and Alert Counts This should be fairly easy. As I've recently struggled with escalations, I'll give you some pointers. You may want to set the default contact group for this host/service to be a null address and set the notification_interval to 10. Then, setup an escalation for the first two notifications you need with a first_notification of 1 and a last_notification of 2. Also, in your escalation, set a contact group which can e-mail and sms. To get the recovery notification, setup another escalation with a first_notification of 3, a final_notification of 0, and an escalation_options of r. Set the contact group you want which sends sms, e-mail, and voice. This should handle the recovery for you. Obviously, you'll need to setup the appropriate contact groups and commands to dispatch the notifications. There may be a better option, and I haven't tested the above, but it *should* work. It might need a little tweaking. -Steve - Original Message ----- From: cr...@hooters-uk.com To: nagios-users@lists.sourceforge.net Sent: Thursday, August 13, 2009 9:16:10 AM GMT -06:00 US/Canada Central Subject: [Nagios-users] Alerts, Escalation and Alert Counts Hi Group, I wonder if you could help me out with the following scenario I would like to set up. [Nagios-users] Remote Acknowledge
Hi Group I'm trying to find a way of letting our users acknowledge their own servers faults without the need to log in to Nagios, I have seen that there are remote commands you can issue which allow this to happen, but this is where I need a little instruction on how to use them. http://www.nagios.org/developerinfo/externalcommands/commandinfo.php?command_id=39 In the Nagios book I have been reading it mention's the use of Ticket Systems and making sure that Nagios can integrate with them and when I goggled the question the one of the results I got was OTRS. I guess that means I can raise a ticket by injecting Nagios info into it, but would I be able to use ACK's from within too, if not do you know of a solution that could do this. [Nagios-users] Escalations Info
Hi all, I'm trying to understand the escalation process in Nagios but think I'm missing a trick somewhere, this is what I want to do. If I have a service that is down I would like 3 email sent out and then after the 3 mails I would like this to escalate this to send out SMS sent and then stop. So in my escalations I have the following but unsure if it’s the correct format. First escalation: 3 because as I understand it this will occur after 3 mails have been sent. Last Escalation: 3 because I want 3 SMS sent after my 3 mails. [Nagios-users] Private Addreses
Hi all, just a query this time on how I would achieve the following. We have an site that needs monitoring which has a broadband connection with a single IP address and 4 servers sitting behind it, 1 running Web, 1 running Mail and 1 running FTP, the other is a file and print server all Centos boxes. The firewall has port forwarding for each of the Servers that have web, mail and ftp but the file server is on a private IP address. I know I can monitor the web, mail and FTP because of the port forwarding but how do I go about monitoring the services that I normally check with the nrpe command, do I need to put in a Nagios server on site, let that do all the checking and then send the results on? Any guidance would be great, if you can point me to a site/book or other information that I could look at that would be great, the problem I have at the minute is looking for the correct phrase to put into Google to get the right results. I have my mail alerts working fine, they escalate to SMS and if the fault is still there I would like it to call up-to 3 different mobiles and play an alert through another escalation step, I'm not bothered if its a pre recorded message or one that is converted and synthesised. If need be I can use our Asterisk box to make the outgoing calls, but at the minute I can not find any solution via Google, maybe I'm searching for the wrong phrase. I have heard that Nagios Looking Glass is the way to go but as the site is down I can not gather any information from there, I beleive from various posts that it users filter but I'm not sure if these filters are what I need, does anybody know if NGL is the add-on I need and that the filters will work for me or is there a different solution out there that I could use.
