[Nagios-users] check_rdiff/NRPE problems
Hi list So I've built a new backup server, and therefore working on nagios checks for all the backups. Everything is working fine, except check_rdiff (which used to work fine on the previous backup server). Im getting the infamous NRPE:unable to read output from the monitoring server. However, I know how its supposed to work with entries in the sudoers file, /usr/bin/sudo before the command in nrpe.cfg, because I had it working on the old backup server. Also, when I su to the nagios user, I ran the exact same command as is in nrpe.cfg and it returns successfully. Any ideas as to why the remote monitoring host cant receive the output. (Not a firewall issue either because all other check work) Thanks in advance. - zack kenton (zkenton) --- The mailing list archive is found here: http://www.nagiosexchange.org/nagios-users.34.0.html - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. [Nagios-users] Checks arent frequent enough
Hi list Will probably seem like a stupid and/or easy question, but my checks arent frequent enough. I have a disk health check and it told me there was a bad disk on a server one day after the server crashed from this bad disk. I know this has to do with normal check interval and retry check interval. Take for example normal_check_interval 300...where is it defined that 300 is seconds and not minutes? And is retry_check_interval the amount of time it checks after a failed check? Should i prioritize my services and comb through each one and set the important ones to every minute and less important ones to like once or twice a day. Just trying to get a better grasp on the whole check frequency. thanks - zack kenton (zkenton) --- The mailing list archive is found here: http://www.nagiosexchange.org/nagios-users.34.0.html - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Hi Hari Unforutnately the nagios user has no problem runnign the script from the command line, and I believe that the proper IP of the UPS has been provided in service definition. [Nagios-users] (Return code of 9 is out of bounds)
Hi list Does anyone have an idea why I would get (Return code of 9 is out of bounds) with my perl plugin. I know of 123 and 127 numbers, but why would a 9 return? - zack kenton (zkenton) --- The mailing list archive is found here: http://www.nagiosexchange.org/nagios-users.34.0.html - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Re: [Nagios-users] turn off epn
Hi Andreas So what i needed to do was add the path to utils.pm within the perl plugin, as well as add /usr/bin/perl...however, instead of no output I'm not receiving return code 9 is out of bounds I've heard of 123 or 127, but does anyone know what 9 means? - zack kenton (zkenton) --- This thread is located in the archive at this URL: http://www.nagiosexchange.org/nagios-users.34.0.html?tx_maillisttofaq_pi1[showUid]=4765 - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Re: [Nagios-users] turn off epn
Hi Marc So I've tried everyones methods. Putting perl directly into the command line of commands.cfg, setting up a macros user with /usr/bin/perl, the environmental variables are fine...I just dont think there is a way around embedded perl. - zack kenton (zkenton) --- This thread is located in the archive at this URL: http://www.nagiosexchange.org/nagios-users.34.0.html?tx_maillisttofaq_pi1[showUid]=4719 - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. [Nagios-users] turn off epn
Hi list i've installed nagios from an rpm package, which in turn enables epn, whish isnt necessarily a bad thing...however, I had some scripts from my old version of nagios that are not working now because of epn...is there anyway to tell nagios not to use epn and use regular perl to read the script, because it works from the command line - zack kenton (zkenton) --- The mailing list archive is found here: http://www.nagiosexchange.org/nagios-users.34.0.html - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
