RE: 1/2u 100g Metro-E Aggregation Switch

2018-02-15 Thread Aaron Gould
Preso I just looked at shows a spec for one of those boxes as having what
appears to be break-out capability of the 100 gig interfaces to be (10's, 25's
and 40's)... wondering if that would be true of those 100 gig ports on the
ACX5448 as well ? if not, why not?

Once upon a time, I worked on the SYS/NET OPS time of a United Online
subsidiary. Spent a lot of time in the data centers and worked on
occasion with other OPS folks from different business units. They would
joke about the complaints that would come in, they do read the emails -
but you have to name drop their VP of Tech to get them to do anything.

Search LinkedIn or the usual channels for that name and good luck.

This was as of ~5 years ago, things may have changed now, but I doubt it.

Your spam notification system is spamming me and I have been unable to get ahold of anyone regarding this.

Over the last 48 hours it has sent probably 25-30 emails to our abuse email address. All emails are the same, with the same content, and are actually a human generated email from a customer I personally know (Eg not even spam).

I suggest that you look at the switches that support the FAUCET
software stack, many of which are listed here:

Looking for a L2/L3 managed switch with OpenFlow support

2018-02-15 Thread Alex Moura
Hello,

We are now looking for indications for a managed top of rack switch for a
network research testbed.
For the last 3-4 years we have been using a product from a local
(Brazilian) provider, but their OpenFlow support did not evolve in the last
years, and now we are looking for a new box model that we can use from now
on to install new racks or replace units without contract support that are
limited to OpenFlow 1.0.

We are looking for a box – it cay be a white-box – with the following
features:

• L2 / L3 switch
• 48 Ports 1GbE UTP RJ-45
• Line rate non-blocking wire-speed for 64-byte packets
• Minimum of 2 or more ports with 1Gbps mini GBIC (SFP)
(support for 2x 10Gbps SFP+ is desirable, but not mandatory)
• 1U 19" chassis
• 110V / 220V AC Power (redundant is preferable, but not mandatory)
• Support for IPv4, IPv6 and OpenFlow
• Support for OpenFlow version 1.0.0 and above
• Support for VLAN Tagging with simultaneous 4094 active VIDs IEEE 802.1q)
• Support for Q-in-Q double tagging with EtherType 0x8100 and selective
Q-in-Q
• Support for VLAN translation allowing label push, pop or swap (IEEE
802.1q)
• Support for Routing between VLANs (IPv4 and IPv6)
• Support for management protocols (SNMP etc)
• Support for debugging OpenFlow traffic in the CLI
• Support for dual images for resilient firmware upgrades is desirable
• Support for Secure remote management of the switch via Secure Shell (SSH)
and SSL encryption
• Support for SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3 with support for SNMP Traps
• Support for port mirroring
• Configuration rollback feature is desirable
• POE (IEEE 802.3af) is desirable, but not mandatory.

Thanks,
Alex
