Re: TATA, CableVision, Verizon IP reassignment contacts?
I haven't yet received a response from CableVision's listed ARIN contact, but I've got Tata Communications via ip-a...@tatacommunications.com and I'll be emailing swip...@verizon.net for Verizon a little later today. Thanks for the off-list replies, this thread should be resolved. Re: Barely operational .. hoping to find myspace help
Thanks! Replying to the list as well .. several kind folks replied off-list. As you can imagine, getting a lawyer's letterhead could involve some expense that our shoestring volunteer organization wishes to avoid .. which is why I sought a tech contact in order to pave the way if possible (sometimes it's still WHO you know more than WHAT you know). Good news is that the parole officer has now assured my client that no matter what PSP told him, the PO won’t technical him for circumstances beyond his control. So the pucker factor is markedly diminished. This is a public thanks to all who have sent off-line offers of help and support! The effort continues but now with more manageable urgency. And thanks to the list for being gracious re this non-operational followup. Carrier responses to FCC wildfire prepardness query
Today, AT, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon have responded to the FCC's inquiry about their prepardness for California wildfires and preventative public safety electric grid shutdowns. PSHB proceeding number 19-251 https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/search/filings?proceedings_name=19-251=date_disseminated,DESC As typical, the carrier responses were mostly happy, happy, joy, joy letters. The FCC asked about backup power readiness, but last year many of the communication outages were because of damaged fiber routes during wildfires isolating cell towers and mobile switching stations. Carriers minimize spending on route diversity in rural areas. COWs, COLTs, etc. use alternative satellite and microwave backhaul, but alternative backhaul is less common for permanent facilities. I didn't hear about any WISPs during last year's wildfires.
