Re: Amazon Prime Video contact

2021-09-13 Thread L Sean Kennedy
Amazon does have a process to investigate these issues and unfortunately
the information on the Brothers WISP page is dated (that page took over the
nanog.cluepon.net data which was referenced in previous NANOG
presentations). I strongly recommend that any ISP who has blocked IPs or
customers reporting issues ensure that an Amazon ticket is opened.
Although it is possible to open such a ticket through CS channels, I am
happy to open a ticket for anyone who contacts me off-list (and I am
currently opening a ticket for David).

There are several data providers which allow you to search their
information and also report false positives which is important given that
multiple streaming providers can use the same data, but unfortunately not
all are as transparent. So the feedback on this provider is helpful and
useful, but I would suggest contacting the streaming providers too. And I
would like to know of ISPs having issues with Prime Video - there are
multiple data sources used, so if you use a whack-a-mole approach you may
run into a frustrating dead-end.

Thanks,
 Sean

Re: Amazon Contact?

2021-08-25 Thread L Sean Kennedy
Any other ISPs that are having this issue with Amazon Prime Video, please
contact me for real time help off-list. It does appear that several of the
reports also involve other streaming platforms, but at least for Amazon I
can get a ticket open to investigate.

There are probably some updates needed to the brotherswisp.com document and
I will reach out to Mike H separately about that, but those updates may not
happen in real time.

Thanks,

Re: NTT/AS2914 enabled RPKI OV 'invalid = reject' EBGP policies

2020-03-26 Thread L Sean Kennedy
Job,

Congratulations to NTT, AT, and others in our community who have deployed
validation on their network edge. What is really exciting is all the
activity in this and other operator regions that has come together to
promote securing the routing system by combining multiple strategies. This
shift to leadership by example is a big shift from just using the mailing
list for public shaming anti-social behavior. (Public shaming should still
be used strategically :-).

While this is an important step, the big win that I see is the larger
project promoting securing the routing system by combining multiple
strategies. There is significant power in combining multiple strategies
and engaging other organizations to develop their own multi-pronged
approach. That evangelizing and investing in "leadership by example" has
really accelerated this project in ways that individual engineers struggled
to do so before and as a community where we remained stuck in the past. By
raising the industry standard for routing security, implementation of these
measures is no longer optional, and that has been done without government
interference. NTT has invested in bringing this whole package to the NANOG
region -- developing tools, working with other networks and even
competitors, and evangelization of routing security.

I am speaking on my own behalf, but as NANOG has started using social media
and other online tools to promote the knowledge of the community, I will
talk to the PC and staff about curating routing security materials for an
educational playlist. If there is any chance you could resend a link to
some of your materials, I think that would be beneficial (IRR tools, rpki
validation and planning tools, peerlock implementation)? I also encourage
any operator with a few spare minutes to poke around manrs.org/isps .

Thanks,
 Sean

The volunteers on the committee are responsible to develop and select
content to program each of the three yearly NANOG conferences and other
events. The Program Committee is a highly skilled, dedicated and diverse
team of people who strive to improve the NANOG organization and make our
industry, as a whole, better. Specific committee member responsibilities
are listed here
<https://www.nanog.org/governance/pgm/member_responsibilities> and
appointments are to 2 year terms, except when appointed to complete a
retiring members term.

Committee nominations will close at 9:00 PM ET on Tuesday, February 19,

2019. Emails detailing the selection results will be sent to candidates
shortly thereafter, and a full announcement will be sent to the
nanog-announce distribution list during the following week.

Volunteer participation by members on NANOG committees is part of the
essential fabric of the NANOG organization. PC members have developed new

meeting maker tool and having a forum to discuss the experiences of women
in our industry, and meeting after meeting develop unique programs
showcasing the state of Network Operations.

Please consider running for the Program Committee if you are passionate
about NANOG and can commit to participating! If you know someone that you
believe would be interested, please nominate them. The nomination form
<https://www.nanog.org/elections/2018/PCnominationform> accepts either self
or 3rd party nominations. Myself and the other board members are available

Re: Interconnection Track

2017-05-08 Thread L Sean Kennedy
John,

The "Peering Coordination Forum" is a dedicated session for peering or
interconnection discussions. It is a more formalized version of "peering
personals" which were part of the old peering BoF and are also featured at
GPF as well as other events. In other words if you are interested in
soliciting new peers you provide some basic information such as ASN,
Peering Policy, if caching is offered, and URL to peering policy or
solicitation request. NANOG is providing tables to approximately 25
organizations, will project the information provided on slides and table
locations, and you can conduct bi-lateral discussions. If you are
interested in peering with those networks, you find them in that forum.
There is also open meeting space with tables for the whole conference for
bi-lateral discussions between networks and organizations, plus the NANOG
board tasked the staff to evaluate tools for scheduling meetings for future
meetings. The Peering Coordination Forum is open for registration:

https://nanog.org/meetings/nanog70/pcf

Mehmet has submitted a proposed agenda for the Interconnection track as,
which the NANOG Program Committee has to evaluate through its peer review
process. We received that submission today which is somewhat late in our
review cycle, so there will probably be more information after the PC meets
this Thursday, but it is not currently posted to the agenda. We will be
posting approved submissions and their associated time-slots to the agenda
this week.

Please note that we are holding a hackathon at NANOG 70 Sunday and the
"challenge" is o develop tools around Peering/Interconnection automation
and there will be a short tutorial on the same theme.
