The fiber has been repaired by NATCOM that took over Teleco operations in Haiti, but with very limited traffic flowing on. NATCOM is a Vietnamese (Viettel) company that had acquired 60% of the incumbent telecommunications company in Haiti. Hello Marshall This cable belonged to TELECO the incumbent state owned company. A new company named NATCOM had taken over TELECO, it has been heard that the landing station has been restored and the cable has been tested but I can't confirm. I'll try to get more information. unreachable Sites
I have been notified this morning by several people that there is some websites that are unreachable from Haiti: http://www.hostcentric.com, http://www.gama.ht those are examples. It happens with different ISP. When we change th DNS using the google one 8.8.8.8 it's ok for some but some others still remain unreachable. Can some of you from the Nanog list check and advise? To all I received yesterday morning from Mr. Montaigne Marcelin, Director of Conatel the aid that has been given by Codetel to help the technicians in the Telecommunications sector: 1. 9 packs of rice 60 Kg 2. 2 packs of beans 60 Kg 3. 2 containers of oil 30 pounds each 4. 4 herring boxes 5. 354 containers of pica pica 6. 2 boxes of plastic spoon 7. 110 packs of water 8. 4 boxes of polystyrene plate 9. 2 packs of maggi 10. 1 pack of salt 11. 4 boxes of tomato pasta 12. 3 rations of bananas 13. 7 packs of spaghetti 14. 4 gallons of hot sauce The distribution of this aid is being coordinated by Napoleon Richard (509-3746-5849) an associates member of the board of AHTIC. To any of you who wants to help: We would like to provide to the haitian government a UC systems with several branches: - President office:10 Endpoints - PM office: 10 endpoints - 12 mayor city hall offices: 3 for each : 36 endpoints - Ministries(9 differents locations 3 for each) 27 - Communications Center 20 - emergency Clusters 14 Total 117 endpoints Redundant communications. So if someone can provide recommendations, equipment, skilled technician for that it would be fine.
