RE: [nant-dev] NAnt Build Server
The .NET code required to create a windows service is minimal, and therefore it would be fairly trivial to decouple it from the Autonomy core. Additionally there are a couple of places in the VSS and DevEnv integration that use the registry. We have no need for these modifications but if anybody submits the changes we will integrate them. I'm not sure exactly how a web-app version would work. Obviously it would be possible to manually start builds via a web interface, but how would it poll the repository and automatically kick off builds when a change is detected? If you want to discuss this further, then we should probably take it to autonomy's dev list. Subscription info can be found on http://www.chive.com/products/autonomy. Not only would I prefer a web-app version, but running as a service severely limits the portability of autonomy. Any plans to make two versions? or be able to pick which way its run? -Griffin --- This sf.net emial is sponsored by: Influence the future of Java(TM) technology. +1, As long as the other build servers are open source/public. -Original Message- Subject: RE: [nant-dev] NAnt Build Server Brian, Good for bringing this up, I suggest we remove the NAnt Build Server code altogether. Re: [nant-dev] NAnt Build Server
MessageHello, In answer to your questions: 1. Yes, it is OpenSource. Autonomy.NET is released under a FreeBSD-style licence (IMHO the only true open source licence) 2. Yes 3. Yes ;-) We find it very useful, although I'm biased since I was involved in its development Please download it, try it out. I'd be happy to answer any questions. Right now there is already is a good build server that supports CVS and SourceSafe : Autonomy.NET. ( http://www.chive.com/products/autonomy/ ) And a CruiseControl version for .NET is planned. I suggest we don't reinvent this wheel but let NAnt(Contrib) focus on normal NAnt functionality (core + tasks). What does everybody else think? Bernard -Original Message- From: Brian Ritchie [mailto:brianlritchie;hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, October 22, 2002 5:33 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [nant-dev] NAnt Build Server Are there any plans to continue development on the NAnt Build Server that Gerry Shaw started? I don't see any mentions of it in CVS. We've been using it for our build process (after a few tweaks to the code). It is a great tool for monitoring builds and enabling builds to be kicked off from a web page.
