Re: [neonixie-l] Vacuum tube manufacturing equipment - Providence RI

2021-10-05 Thread Aleksander Zawada
In Poland, most of the instructions ended up in the rubbish bin. I only
saved a small part. This equipment is in poor condition, but I saved the
carcass in worse condition.

2020-11-16 Thread Aleksander Zawada

Hello again,

I have many kind of pumps: ion, diffusion, turbomolecular and Roots.
It's depend on vacuum device... In electron beam welder/3D printer I
have 6000 l/s diffusion pump and 600m3/h Roots pump:). For pumping my
electron devices usually I use diffusion pump 100 l/s. If I wait some
hours, I have 5x10^-7 Torr. Sometimes I use ion pumps if I need very low
pressure 10^-8 Torr and lower.

Re: [neonixie-l] Re: Dolam LC-7

2017-07-18 Thread Aleksander Zawada
As a former employee of PIE I can explain that Dolam was experimental
plant of PIE from 1961 to 1965. I'm sure that new development of polish
nixie tubes (maybe not all) was done in PIE to 1970's. For example, I
have some negative masks for nixie digits from 1970's.

W dniu 18.07.2017 o 22:10, Tomasz Kowalczyk pisze:

I'd like to explain one thing: PIE invented LC-1 and LC-2 in 1963
(or 1964), and in 1965 PIE was renamed to Dolam. So it is
basically the same company, if we can speak about something
resembling a company under communist regime.

I've mixed up some stuff. PIE didn't change into Dolam. Dolam was a
part of PIE and was started in 1961.
Dolam was probably assigned to extend work on nixie tubes after
initial success of PIE.

Re: [neonixie-l] Homemade Nixie tubes project: Help with vacuum technology needed

2012-01-15 Thread Aleksander Zawada onet
When I started, I used car light bulb as Pirani's gauge. I used my own
glass oil diffusion pump (only 1-stage) and rotary pump. If you want,
you can see here:

Unfortunatelly, only polish language.

thanks, I did. The actual gauges are quite pricy, maybe I can use a more
ordinary pressure sensor and build a gauge of my own.

Thanks again,
Jens

An ordinary pressure sensor is useless for below 10 mbar, since the
resolution is poor. The fancy ones use an ionization sensor to get an
accurate reading at very low pressure.

And I made a mistake - it's not Varian you want, but Hastings.

Google for 'hastings vacuum' and you'll find lots of meters and
sensors. The meters are $150-250 and the sensors are $50-100. But they
work well.

The other brand of vacuum gauge that we use is Pfeiffer/Balzers, but
they are really expensive. They go down to the microtorr level, though.
