r7415 and fonts.

2009-05-07 Thread Dr Peter Young
I've just tried downloading and running r7415 with its changes in font
handling. Running it gives the font scanning window, which then gets
stuck with the hourglass at 18% while scanning Cyberbit, and I've had
to go back to 7402. The first font it comes to is also a Unicode one
(Abysinnica, giving Amharic characters) and this scans OK.

Does anyone else find this? If so, I'll put in a bug report.

With best wishes,

Peter.

Are you sure it's not just taking longer on that font because it contains
vastly more glyphs than the others?

Just tried again, and the font scan continued after 90 seconds on
Cyberbit. When it came to run, an error message said Error from
NetSurf: The Unicode font library could not be initialized. Please
report this to the developers, so I'm about to put in a bug report,
with logfile.

With best wishes,

Peter.

See my next posting! I thought that too.

Thanks for the log. It's getting stuck on your SwissB font. Please could
you e-mail that font to me off-list.

duplicate copy have caused NetSurf to be puzzled?

Please could you e-mail that font to me off-list.

 Done.

Thanks. It scanned past SwissB and worked fine when I tried it. Do you
still have the other copy of SwissB that you had? If so, can you send me
that one too please?

Two fonts with the same name shouldn't cause problems, the font manager
just chooses one. The two copies of the font may be different and the one
you sent may not have been the one the font manager chose.

Many thanks for your interest and help.

No problem. :)

I've put that one back in Resources.!Fonts, and r7415 is happy with
it, as you say.

Unfortunately not; I just absent-mindedly deleted it, with at the back
of my mind the thought that it may have been useful evidence. I'll dig
it out of the backup, but won't be able to do this till later today,
as I've currently run out of time.

With best wishes,

Peter.

Restored from backup, and being sent off-list.

full save anomaly

2009-05-07 Thread Tony Moore
If 'page1' is full-saved, by dragging the icon from the 'Save as'
dialogue box, it is saved as, say, ADFS::ide.$.!page1 , where the pling
has been inserted automatically by NetSurf.

If, now, 'page2' is full-saved, NetSurf remembers the previous path and
the 'Save as' dialogue box offers ADFS::ide.$.page2 , _without_ a pling
- which, if accepted, results in a plain directory being saved.

New Font Handling Seems to Ignore Messages1 Files

2009-05-07 Thread Evan Clark
Recent builds since the improved support for the non-Unicode font manager
seem to be upsetting the generation of font menus.

Font menus generated within any other application while NetSurf is
running seem to ignore any default weights set using the * character in
Message1 files. After quitting NetSurf, font menus are generated as
expected.

I'm using RISC OS 5.14 (22 Apr 2009), Font Manager 3.61 (06 Jun 2008).

Evan.
