And just as I was going to post that it had gone wrong between
r11851 and r11879!

OK, the problem is reproducible, at least. Thanks, Steve.

I've reverted to r11851 for the time being.

The text on the homepage, at http://www.riscosopen.org/content/ also
displays the problem.

A bit more specifically, it stops working in r11877 having been OK in
r11876. I'm afraid that's probably as far as I can usefully go without a
very steep learning curve, though.

I can't even select any text from an ROOL forum posting, so I don't
even get that far! I've just tried r11925, which still shows the
problem.

Well, I'll get that download, thanks Steve.

And if it occurs again I'll make sure I note exactly which website it
was and the logfile.

I have a sneaky feeling it may be something to do with greek
characters on the page, but they are showing as greek on my Netsurf.

I can see how that might be broken, as the selection save dialogue prepare
isn't (or wasn't, following my changes, until r11923) checking the correct
values are in place before trying to do its stuff.

However...

...if there's a more general issue, that's a worry.

Does it affect specific websites (and can you give me a URL that this
happens on), and is it reproducable?

Following up my own post: it's a problem in NS. r11851 on the BB
selects text OK; r11907 and r11922 on the Iyonix don't.

I may have to revert.

I'd better put in a bug report too.

The former

It also sometimes freezes the RO mouse when I am on a website and I
select a bit of text which is on the page by highlighting it in black,
then Menu - Selection>Save.

As soon as the 'Save' dialog is about to pop up (but doesn't actually
pop up) the mouse pointer freezes and nothing seems able to un-freeze
it.

Next time it happens I'll get a log.

It could be something at my end, but if so, this behaviour is new.

No, so you'll need to be more specific. Do you mean that you accidentally
click Menu over the browser window, and then accidentally traverse to
Page->Export->Text, or that you have the Export Text dialogue open and
accidentally click Menu over it?

Neither of those seem to cause a problem on RISC OS 5.16, so without more
info it's going to be hard to track down. Is there anything useful left in
the log file when the machine is restarted (but before you run NetSurf
again)?

What website are you doing this on?

Complete mouse pointer freeze

2011-03-06 Thread Roger Darlington
Netsurf r11839, RO 4.39, VA-RPC-SA Adjust,

When (accidentally) doing a Mouse Menu Button over a Netsurf HTML page
Page > Export > Text

I have twice experienced a complete mouse freeze which neither
- not - release. A complete computer
freeze-up occurs.

Does anyone else experience this?
