I've just checked again and, here too, there is no black background. Most odd - I couldn't have imagined it! Tony

As you say, a most useful reference. Strangely I have no black background problems here with build 3.3 (Dev CI #2193) if JavaScript is disabled. Now that is really useful. Many thanks. Searching for an explanation of the various parameters led me to https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/staticmaps/ This has a black background, but can be read easily in NetSurf, by pressing ctrl-a to select all. Maps
Since NetSurf doesn't have enough JavaScript support to use Google Maps, I've added a simple front end to the Google Static Maps API. You can have a go with this if you visit: about:maps in the latest NetSurf development build. -- Michael Drake http://www.netsurf-browser.org/

google maps
Until not long ago, using NetSurf (09 Jan 2010 00:15) r9799 to visit http://maps.google.com/?output=html&oi=nojs enabled maps to be accessed. Now, when I visit that link, shortly after the page is displayed, NetSurf downloads a 'text' file named 'm' (which is actually a wml file containing various Google links). Disregarding the spurious download, entering a placename in the search-box and clicking 'Search maps' leads to a page containing a writable icon, at top left, and nothing else (formerly, it led to a page displaying a map). Can anyone please confirm this problem. If so, does anyone know of a link to Google Maps which still works? Tony
re: google maps
Hi all No joy with Google Maps or with MultiMaps. Checked the various modules as follows: URI: v 104 OK Tinct: v 0.13 OK Iconv: v 0.10 (29 Nov 08) OK Shared U Lib newest OK However using the newest Unicode NS does not load giving the error message: using earlier version of Unicode (ca. 273 KB soze) NS load and works OK but nodisplay of maps. I have a feeling something is missing but have no idea what it might be. Very grateful for any suggestion. Best regards -- Mohamed Abdullah Dept.
